The Learning & Development Specialist serves an integral role to the Talent Management and Organization Development department by providing administrative and logistical support for talent management and learning delivery programming and initiatives. Responsibilities include scheduling, coordination, and, in some cases, development and delivery of programs that facilitate the professional development and continuous learning of team members and healthcare providers across the system.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (The following duties and responsibilities are all essential job functions, as defined by the ADA, except those that begin with the word “May.”)
- Serves as logistics lead for learning, leadership development, training, and orientation programs.
- Supports the development, delivery, and facilitation of leadership programs including training experiences, workshops, presentations, group discussions and leadership forums delivered in-person and virtually
- Manages registration and schedules participants, reserves and sets up rooms, prepares training materials, orders supplies, and manages catering needs
- Consults with leaders to understand training and development needs of team members, manages expectations of key stakeholders, and offers project updates while coordinating development activities for employees and teams.
- Evaluates learning and development experiences, utilizing qualitative or quantitative methods, for use in determining overall impact on business
- Maintains appropriate records pertaining to department including learner attendance, email distribution lists, websites, shared learning resources (e.g., G-drive links)
- Develops and maintains training materials, reference guides, and eLearning materials available through a variety of sources. Keeps contents updated in a timely manner to ensure employees have most current information.
- Manages pre- and post-learning activities, communications, and materials. Manages the registration status of programming in Learning Management Systems and escalates to managers if there is low attendance or a waitlist. Measures and reports on training analytics such as attendance, course completion, assessment scores and learning impact, among other things. Continuously updates programs based on feedback.
- Oversees the delivery and content of corporate-wide New Employee Orientation program including but not limited to program design and maintenance of program materials, compliance with JCAHO requirements, ongoing quality improvement initiatives.
- Oversees the relationship between the organization and all outside organizational development and learning consultants. Responsibilities include ongoing feedback, fee negotiation, and research of best practices within the Organization Development & Learning (OD&L) industry.
- Works with various teams in the organization to identify, investigate and resolve team concerns and issues. May work in conjunction with managers or Employee Relations to determine specific areas of need.
- Assists Talent Management and Organization Development Leadership team with strategic planning and objectives for the TM & OD function.
- Assists with various special projects and other duties as requested.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Education, Experience and/or Skills Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum of five years of experience in Human Resources, Talent Management, Training & Development, or a related field
- Excellent facilitation and training delivery skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships at all levels with stakeholders in HR and across the system
- Ability to consult and interact with senior leadership
- Strong computer and HR management systems skills, including proficiency in Position Manager, HRXpress, HealthStream, Microsoft Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently and as a team player while effectively navigating in a matrix environment
- Collaborative and team-oriented approach to completing work assignments
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and quickly manage a large and diverse workload with changing deadline and priorities
- Comfortable with shifting priorities based upon business need
- Detail oriented, strong critical thinker, and sound analytical/problem-solving abilities
- Education, Experience and/or Skills Preferred:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Education, Organization Development or Training & Development, or a related field
- Minimum of ten years of experience in Human Resources, Talent Management, Training & Development, or a related field
- Understanding of Adult Learning principles
- License/Certification Preferred:
- American Society for Training & Development (ASTD) Certification or similar training certificate
