You can use these templates in a wide variety of creative ways such as:

  • Visualize those “Life Happens” moments – The ‘Bean Game‘ template can be used as a tactile classroom budgeting game that asks students to allocate beans (or candies, or whatever) into budget categories like housing, clothing, food, savings, furniture, utilities, and more — based on their values, cost breakdowns, and money priorities.

Spain’s Innovamat Raises $21M to Reinvent Math Education

Spain's Innovamat Raises $21M to Reinvent Math Education
Spain's Innovamat Raises $21M to Reinvent Math Education

Innovamat, a leading EdTech company based in Barcelona Spain, has recently raised $21 million in a Series A funding round led by Reach Capital to reinvent math education for K-12. Innovamat aims to revolutionize the learning of mathematics by transforming the classroom to excite, stimulate, and motivate students.

The company was founded in 2017, operating initially in Spain before expanding to Italy and several countries in Latin America like Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Brazil, and Peru. Today, the company’s tool is being used by 15,000+ teachers from 2,000 schools to teach math to 350,000 students.

The company said it would use the fresh funding to expand its business. Most recently, it started its first K-5 pilots in the US, in New Jersey. Its plans include putting investment into more R&D, with a new research center focused on mathematics pedagogy and learning.

The problem that Innovamat is tackling has been in the sights of educators, parents, and larger institutions for quite a while. In short, globally, most countries are struggling to teach most of their young people basic math skills.

According to Innovamat, the basics of how it’s been taught by and large for decades have focused on rote memorization of techniques and theories, using textbooks to codify that approach, with explanations for “why” something works a certain way only coming much later. On top of that, those rote methods are often taught in a vacuum with little alternative, creating a very narrow grasp of the subject for most students.

Esteban Sosnik, General Partner of Reach Capital, said in a statement,

There has been a global problem with mathematics education for decades. It often follows a transmissive model that focuses on rote memorization, which is ineffective and generates anxiety for many students. Mathematics is a deductive science and requires a different approach. Innovamat offers a quality solution, adapted to the needs of the 21st century and based on research, offering training and support to teachers while at the same time engaging the interest of students.

Google Classroom Review: Pros and Cons of Using Google Classroom in eLearning
Google Classroom Review: Pros and Cons of Using Google Classroom in eLearning

In recent years, eLearning has become an increasingly popular mode of education, especially considering the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact. During the pandemic, all institutions have to use eLearning to continue with their students learning. With the rise of eLearning many EdTech tools like Google Classroom have become essential for educators to manage their virtual classrooms. In this review, we’ll explore the pros and cons of using Google Classroom in eLearning.

What is Google Classroom?

Google Classroom is a free web service developed by Google for schools that aims to simplify creating, distributing, and grading assignments in a paperless way. Teachers can create a virtual classroom, add students, create, and share assignments, grade student work, and communicate with students, all in one place.

Google Classroom is one of the most popular and free web-based online teaching platforms for schools and educational institutions. It can be used to help the institutions to manage and streamline the process of sharing, organizing, and grading assignments, as well as facilitating communication between teachers and students. While it is not a full-fledged LMS like Moodle or Canvas, but it has many features which can help the teachers to complement classroom teaching.

Pros of Using Google Classroom in eLearning

[tie_list type=”plus”]

  • Easy to Use: It is user-friendly and intuitive, making it easy for educators to quickly get up and running with the platform.
  • Integrates with Other Google Tools: It integrates with other Google tools like Google Drive, Docs, and Sheets, allowing for seamless collaboration and file sharing.
  • Simplifies Assignment Management: It makes it easy for educators to create and distribute assignments, and for students to submit their work online.
  • Real-Time Communication: Teachers and students can communicate with each other in real-time using Google Classroom, providing an instant feedback loop.
  • Compatible with Multiple Devices: It is compatible with a range of devices, including laptops, tablets, and smartphones, making it accessible to a wider range of students.

[/tie_list]

Cons of Using Google Classroom in eLearning

[tie_list type=”cons”]

  • Limited Customization: It has limited customization options, which may not meet the needs of all educators and students.
  • Limited Grading Options: While it allows for easy assignment management, its grading options are limited compared to other Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Limited Course Management: It is primarily designed for course content delivery and assignment management and may not provide the same level of course management features as dedicated LMS.
  • May Not Be Ideal for Complex Courses: It may not be the best option for courses with complex requirements or for educators who require advanced analytics and reporting tools.

[/tie_list]

In conclusion, Google Classroom is a useful tool for educators looking to manage their virtual classrooms and simplify assignment management. While it has some limitations compared to dedicated Learning Management Systems like Moodle & Canvas LMS, it is a user-friendly and accessible option that integrates well with other Google tools.

Boost Student Engagement in Online Courses with the Reengagement Moodle Plugin

Boost Student Engagement in Online Courses with the Reengagement Moodle Plugin
Boost Student Engagement in Online Courses with the Reengagement Moodle Plugin

Moodle is a popular Learning Management System (LMS) used by educators and trainers worldwide. It allows for the creation of engaging and interactive online courses, which can be used for both distance learning and traditional classroom teaching. However, even with Moodle’s many features, it can be difficult to keep students engaged and motivated throughout the course.

Luckily, in Moodle LMS you have multiple ways to identify students struggling in your course and connect with them to complete their course. You can use Moodle course participation report to identify which students are not participating in your course and help them. In this post we will see the Reengagement plugin which allows you to release the course content with a specified time delay and notify users who haven’t completed.

What is the Moodle Reengagement activity

The reengagement activity is a Moodle plugin designed to increase student engagement and participation in online courses. It does this by providing tools that allow teachers to send automated reminders to students who have not been active in the course for a certain period. These reminders can be sent via email or within the Moodle platform itself.

Reengagement activity can help you setup dripping content in your Moodle course through which the students can access the new activities after completing the specified one. In case the students don’t complete the specified activity within time, they will be notified via email to return to course and complete the activities.

The plugin also includes a dashboard that allows teachers to track student engagement levels and view detailed reports on student activity. This helps teachers to identify students who may be struggling with the course material and provide targeted support to help them succeed.

You can download the Reengagement Moodle plugin from the official plugin’s repository here. In case you are new to Moodle, please go through this guide to learn how to install Moodle plugin.

If you are looking for a solution to automatically remind your students about completing the course activities, you can use the Reengagement plugin. It is an essential tool for online learning because it helps to keep students engaged and motivated throughout the course. Online courses can be isolating, and it can be easy for students to lose track of their coursework or feel disconnected from their peers and instructors.

With Reengagement activity, teachers can create a more engaging and supportive online learning environment, improving student retention rates and ensuring that students are able to achieve their learning goals.
