Moodle LMS offers a variety of collaborative tools for online teaching including Workshop, Database, Assignments, Forums etc. There are many more tools available in the Moodle plugins repository such as Checklist, Game, Attendance etc which can be used to enhance the users learning experience. In this post we will see one more such plugin named as Board and how you can use it.

The Board Moodle plugin allows you to add a Post-it Board in your Moodle course where all the students can collaborate. As a teacher, you can define the columns/headings under which students have to create content. They can’t see what other students are posting.

The students can add new posts on the Board with media, links etc. They also have the capability to edit or delete their posts. The teachers can download a copy of the board contents & a spreadsheet of submissions of the students.

You can download the Board Moodle plugin from the official repository here. The plugin can be used in many creative ways such as creating their own Project Management plan, Kanban Board, creating a database of entries on different topics etc.

The Board Moodle plugin is developed by Brickfield Education Labs and was initially funded by National Institute for Digital Learning at Dublin City University.

Empion, a Berlin-based provider of HR management software solutions, recently announced a seed round of $6.35 million (€6 million) led by Cavalry Ventures, with participation from existing investors Redstone VC and VR Ventures. Empion was founded in December 2021 by Dr. Annika von Mutius and Dr. Larissa Leitner to promote attractive employers in the job market.

The platform uses AI technology and cultural matching to match talent and companies based on skills and cultural fit. The AI-powered robo advisor quantifies essential aspects to match talent with appropriate organizations. The company currently works with various clients, including Personio, Volksbanken, and Mazars.

Dr. Annika von Mutius and Dr. Larissa Leitner established the Empion Method after years of research and doctoral studies in mathematics and business administration. They validated the process by working with job seekers and businesses to analyze and identify current labor market trends.

With the Empion methodology, all aspects of corporate culture can be measured and quantified. To assign a company to a specific culture type, a culture test was created using eight short questions. The questionnaire refers to hard facts, such as the employer’s performance (e.g., social benefits), and soft facts, such as the corporate culture (e.g., communication within the company). The Empion method is continuously developed and refined in cooperation with the Institute for Small and Medium-Sized Businesses and Family Enterprises at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management.

Moodle Teachers – How to send personalized email invitations to your Moodle courses?

Moodle Teachers - How to send personalized email invitations to your Moodle courses?
Moodle Teachers - How to send personalized email invitations to your Moodle courses?

Moodle LMS is one of the most popular open source learning management system in the world. With more than 2150 Moodle plugins it allows the educators to extend the already rich feature set to any extent. In this post we will see how you can send personalized email invitations for your Moodle courses to probable students.

By default, Moodle allows you to first create an account for a user (called as Authentication) and then enroll them in different courses (enrollment). However there may be cases when you as a Moodle teacher would like to give the students a temporary access to your Moodle course via an email invite. It might be when you are still working on the course and would like to have their feedback.

You can use the Invitation Moodle plugin which will simplifies the enrollment process for your Moodle courses. You can simply click on Invite users and send personalized email invitations for your courses.

You can do the same thing by sharing the enrollment key with the students however the invitation plugin offers more benefits like:

  • You can control who can use the invitation.
  • You can include a personalized message in the invitation.
  • You can see a history of past invitations and their status.
  • You can also see who used an invitation or which ones are expired.
  • You can resend expired invitations or send reminder invitations.
  • You can revoke the invitation if has not yet been accepted.
  • You can invite users who do not yet have an account. However, they will need to create an account before they can accept the invitation.
  • You can limit invitations to users with existing accounts.
  • You can limit the lifespan of the invitation (e.g. 2 weeks)

The Invitation plugin offers control over who can use the invitation, tracks past invitations, and allows for resending or revoking invitations. It also supports inviting users even if they are not yet registered on your Moodle LMS site and limiting the lifespan of the invitation.

You can download the Invitation Moodle plugin from the official plugins repository here.
