Moodle launches new Product Advisory Group (PAG) to help guide and develop the roadmap

Moodle HQ team has taken the new initiative and launched the new Product Advisory Group (PAG) for Moodle LMS – Community.  In a recent announcement on Moodle community forums, the Moodle HQ team announced the creation of new Product Advisory Group for Moodle LMS. This new group will join the existing PAG groups, the Moodle Workplace PAG (for Moodle Premium Certified Partners) and the Moodle LMS – Partners PAG (for all Moodle Certified Partners).

In the announcement, Brett Dalton – announced the creation of new PAG for Moodle LMS. According to the announcement, the new PAG will be open to all interested parties, and will be focused on several key activities:

  • Providing a forward view of the existing Moodle LMS Roadmap.
  • Facilitating the ideation of new initiatives and functionality with direct input from the community to influence the roadmap moving forward.
  • Gathering early feedback from the community on the design of features under development.

The news comes like a surprise as few years back the Moodle Users Association was initiated with similar objective. Now, in a separate announcement on MUA, Mike Churchward – posted about the change in how the MUA will work in future.

Moodle User’s Association (MUA) will change considerably

Moodle User’s Association will undergo major overhaul to get involved in Product Advisory Group (PAG). All the MUA members will get involved in the Product Advisory Group where they can participate in and influence Moodle’s future. This will make MUA focusing on its ideas rather than its financial contributions.

According to the announcement on MUA:

Inclusion of MUA members into the new PAG will begin immediately, allowing our members to participate in and influence Moodle’s future. Going forward, the MUA will continue to accept single year memberships until the new funding platform is in place. This is scheduled to be ready by January 2024. When this platform is in place, new memberships and renewals will no longer be accepted. The existing memberships will continue to use their fees to fund the remaining year of MUA projects, ending in January 2025. At the same time, the new funding platform will also fund the defined roadmap.
