Open Edtech officially becomes an incorporated Association

Open Edtech – the new initiative by Dr. Martin Dougiamas – Founder of Moodle LMS, has officially become an incorporated association. In a recent news announcement, the Open Edtech team posted about the incorporation of Association Internationale Sans But Lucratif (AISBL), based in Belgium.

With the new status the Open Edtech initiative will be going through administrative tasks ahead before launching the next phase of a more structured, stable, and robust Open EdTech Association.

The Open Edtech initiative is launched in 2019 by the founding members – Moodle LMS & BigBlueButton. The purpose of the Open Edtech initiative is to support open Edtech movement globally through:

  • Research
  • Standards
  • Funding
  • Advocacy

The initiative was launched with a mission statement:

We believe that a comprehensive infrastructure of Open Educational Technology is the only way to enable every single person on Earth to have real access to the best quality educational experiences available.
