Moodle Admins – How to Archive the courses at the end of the year easily using Course Archiver plugin

-

Moodle Administrators need to setup the year-end procedures to keep the Moodle site updated for the next year. It includes resetting the courses for the new session and clearing all user data as well as archive the user data for compliance purpose. In this post we will discuss about the Course Archiver plugin and how you can use it.

The Course Archiver plugin is one of the most handy tools for the Moodle administrators which can help in archiving the courses. It can also be used to send notifications to course teachers, hide courses in bulk, and has the ability for course teachers to opt out of the archiving.

You can filter out the courses based on the Course start/end date, Course created start/end date, Course Accessed start/end date. The course zip files can be downloaded or the courses itself can be deleted completely. To avoid any deletion by mistake, there is also an option of archive deletion delayed by X days which can be configured in the plugin settings.

You can download the Course Archiver Moodle plugin from the official plugins repository here. The plugin can also send an email to the course teachers notifying them about their courses to be archived (hidden).  There is a setting to configure any specific course to be left out of the course archives.

What are the other ways you are using to setup your Moodle for the next year? What are the year-end procedures you are following on your Moodle? Please share with us in the comments section below.
