Moodle Administrators - Use TinyMCE Source Code Pro Plugin to improve your Workflow

Moodle has introduced the TinyMCE editor as its default text editor in recent versions. TinyMCE text editor has replaced the Atto text editor as the default text editor. In this post, we will see how you can improvise your workflow by using the Source Code Pro plugin for TinyMCE text editor.

The TinyMCE Editor was chosen as the default text editor due to its extensive user friendly features and possibility of using plugins. By default, the TinyMCE editor in Moodle comes with the option to view the Source code of the text entered in the text editor.

The Source Code view shows the html code behind the WYSIWYG formatted content. The Source Code Pro plugin replaces the Source code view with a better & enhanced view. The Source Code Pro plugin utilizes Code Mirror version 6 to provide syntax highlight, auto completion, block fold, etc.

CodeMirror is a code editor component for the web. It can be used in websites to implement a text input field with support for many editing features, and has a rich programming interface to allow further extension.

You can download the Source Code Pro plugin from the official Moodle plugins repository here. Once installed, the plugin will replace the default Source Code button with new Source Code Pro button.

You can click the Source Code Pro button to view the nicely formatted code with option to view in Dark/Light theme, syntax highlighting & auto completion options.
