    The Senior Training Specialist is responsible or performing OJT, skills training and classroom training for all employees across the site. The Senior Training Specialist is responsible for the development, management and delivery of training programs. He/she will maintain rosters of training progress, examination records, and certification records and may monitor trainees. This position works independently under limited supervision; accomplishes assigned tasks using own discretion and judgment as the specific approach/technique. Both interpersonal skills and communications skills are critical to the success of this role.
    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES (not all inclusive):
    1. Responsible for collaboration and regular communication with mid-senior level managers to identify area needs regarding staff training and development programs.
    2. Collaborate with functional/departmental heads to develop in-house programs to support: Personal Development Plans, Career Ladders and in-job stretch assignments.
    3. Collaborate with functional/department leads to recommend and develop curriculum that meet both regulatory and business needs for the area. Review is to be on an annual basis.
    4. Support the site’s training strategy through the design, development and implementation of in-house programs to train all levels of personnel. Types of training may include, but not limited to:
    • New Employee Orientation
    • On-the-Job/Technical Training
    • Personal Development Training
    • Fundamental Skills Training
    • Training required as a result of audits, corrective actions, incident investigations or pre-start up safety reviews
    • Supervisory/Management Training
    • Safety-related Training
    • Quality-related Training
    5. Conduct and deliver training. Training methods may include, but not limited to, classroom training and electronic learning, which may involve interactive intranet-based training, multimedia programs, and other computer-aided instructional technologies, and videos. .
    6. Contributes to the development of the learning management system for all relevant employees providing specific data for every employee. Contributes to individualized skill development plans as developed by managers and employees, as needed.
    7. Support the group’s overall vision and purpose with regular communication to functional/department leads about training goals, objectives and site’s overall training strategy to obtain buy-in and feedback.
    8. Maintain the site’s training evaluation program by ensuring regular evaluation of training programs and systems for training effectiveness (Levels 1 – 4).
    9. Conduct job and task analyses, when needed, to determine knowledge and skills requirements for specific jobs that require evaluation.
    10. Keep abreast of training and development research, learning theory, motivation theory, and new materials, methods, and techniques.
    11. Respond quickly and professionally to requests for training services.
    12. Other duties as assigned.
    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
    Education:
    Bachelor’s Degree. Degree in Instructional Design, Adult Learning, or related area preferred.
    Experience:
    5-8 years experience as a training professional, preferably managing training programs in a manufacturing environment.
    Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
    • Knowledge and/or experience with OSHA, FDA, and other federal regulatory agencies
    • Knowledge and experience troubleshooting various eLearning management systems
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office software programs
    • Experience with technical writing & education software preferred
    • Excellent oral, written communication and platform skills
    • Ability troubleshooting and problem-solving common training-related issues pertaining to established precedents and policies.
    Preferred Competencies
    Action-oriented, drive for results, managing multiple priorities, customer focus, functional/technical skills, dealing with ambiguity,
    Skills/Competencies:
    • Knowledge and/or experience with manufacturing and process technology
    • Knowledge and/or experience with quality assurance or compliance
    • Annual certification as a Train-the-Trainer required.
    • Understanding of training metrics and evaluation
    Other Skills:
    • Ability to work in a very fast-paced environment.
    • Ability to work with little supervision while adhering to team’s site’s overall training strategy;
    • Ability to meet aggressive deadlines
    • Experience using human resources information systems, PeopleSoft preferred.
    ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS/SCOPE:
    The Senior Training Specialist will report directly to Training Manager and is responsible for the design, development and implementation of all aspects of site training activities. Will interface with site employees including mid-senior level managers.
    WORKING CONDITIONS:
    • Normal office surroundings.
    • Must have the ability to use discretion and independent judgment when necessary.
    • Must be able to work overtime and weekends with limited advance notice.
    • Must be able to handle multiple and changing priorities, which may at times be stressful.
    • Must be able to sustain long periods of sustained concentration for data entry, analysis and mathematical calculations.
    • Must be able to maintain a sedentary posture for up to 4-6 hours per day.
    • Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment and wear PPE when required.
