    The Senior Instructional Designer designs, administers, organizes, and provides content development and project management efforts for the assigned team while creating a learning experience that supports developing knowledge, skills, and competencies. This position is responsible for supporting analysis, planning, design, development and implementation of all training initiatives in alignment with strategic and operational goals. The Senior Instructional Designer is responsible for creating innovative educational solutions using instructional design methodologies, current technologies and effective project management to meet organizational goals. They coordinate and develop training solutions designed to provide all Noridian employees with the necessary skills and knowledge they need to be successful in their jobs.

    Essential Functions

    Key Duties/Responsibilities/Accountabilities

    • Designs, develops, implements and manages targeted learning programs and initiatives to support employee development efforts using best practices in adult learning theory and instructional design
    • Designs and develops scalable blended instructor-led and digital best practice adult learning curriculums, including facilitator guides, end-user guides, job aids, assessment tools, case studies, role plays, gamification and other learning needs to maximize learner performance and behavior change
    • Completes program review, approval process, and determines implementation strategy
    • Performs need analyses to determine the appropriate learning strategy and define the measurements for success.
    • Evaluates the effectiveness of existing programs and curricula and implements recommendations to enhance, improve or revise existing materials based on Subject Matter Expert (SME)/Stakeholder feedback
    • Assists with development of learner engagement strategies and evaluation plans that are in alignment with Noridian mission, vision, core values and leadership imperatives
    • Works on complex training issues, where analysis of situations require in-depth evaluation and understanding of Noridian’s strategies and business objectives
    • Identifies ways to foster collaborative learning environments and grow Noridian’s learning presence serving as a mentor and knowledge resource to less experienced instructors, designers and team trainers
    • Creates evaluation plans to measure learner experience, skill attainment and performance, and behavior change
    • Utilizes the Learning Management System (LMS) to store course curriculum, capture program registration, and run reports on attendee completion status
    • Provides communication to executives and management using the reporting and business analytics from the LMS to determine potential training topics for continued learning growth
    • Communicates regularly with stakeholders proposing innovative learning solutions to support Noridian’s needs and advocate for the learner experience
    • Be a SME on development trends/training tools while continuously exploring new and innovative methodologies
    • Complete assigned course development projects on time and within budget
    • Project manages the creation, design, and delivery of compelling and engaging curriculum and course content that meets the development needs of Noridian’s employees using the instructional design ADDIE, Agile, SAM or Map It methodologies
    • Provides direction, leadership, feedback and coaching to the Talent Development team and SMEs to meet expectations and master facilitation of diverse subject matter to ensure programs meet desired learning outcomes
    • Utilizes industry knowledge, defines and scopes projects by working closely with internal teams and SMEs to understand their needs and create clear performance and behavior outcomes, learning experience goals, and project plans
    • Analyzes and selects the most appropriate training strategy, methodologies, technologies and instructional design principles to maximize the learning experience and resulting in performance or behavior change
    • In collaboration with the Talent Development team, designs and develops comprehensive elearning solutions that meet SCORM compliance standards, incorporating multiple deliverables (online, video, simulations, Instructor-led, Virtual, etc.), to meet business and performance objectives
    • Creates effective and fair assessment methods that foster the learner’s development by providing opportunities to demonstrate their mastery of the learning goals
    • Facilitates classroom, virtual, 1:1, and train-the-trainer instruction
    • Supports the LMS Administrator with content management
    • Manages intake and demand prioritization with appropriate scheduling estimation and applied project management processes
    • Adopts new technologies to enhance learning retention and success in a fast-paced, fluctuating environment

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education Technology, or related field OR equivalent work experience
    • 5 years of demonstrated and successful experience in training facilitation, content development, and training effectiveness evaluations utilizing learner feedback
    • 5 years’ experience in creating training proposals, learning plans, strategies, and other training-related recommendations
    • Strong experience in performance improvement, leadership development, e-learning and evolving trends in learning and organizational development
    • Strong experience utilizing online program evaluation and assessment tools such as Alchemer or Survey Monkey
    • Experience working with an LMS and using the technology to increase effectiveness and efficiency of learning and development function
    • Excellent group presentation/facilitation, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, particularly in writing original content and editing materials
    • Proven working experience in instructional design and instructional technology
    • Proficient knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models
    • Demonstrated experience leading training projects from inception to completion with minimal supervision
    • Ability to solve problems with minimal supervision and balance multiple projects while working constructively in a team environment
    • Course and module planning skills
    • Direct trainer experience
    • Solid knowledge of and experience utilizing elearning authoring tools, such as Articulate Rise, Storyline, Lectora, Captivate, Camtasia, etc.
    • Demonstrated high level of competence using Microsoft Office Suite applications, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

    Preferred Qualifications

    Above requirements and the following:

    • Master’s degree in instructional design or education technology
    • 3 years’ experience in management
    • 5 years’ experience in instructional design, educational technology, authoring tools, and adult learning
    • Possess fundamental project management skills and sound problem solving and critical thinking skills
    • Thorough knowledge and experience using various instructional media and computer software including elearning authoring tools Articulate Storyline, Camtasia, Adobe Captivate , or Adobe Premier
    • Experience in developing storyboards for E-learning courses to include, but not limited to, course slides, narratives, interactions, and animations
    • Experience with developing pre- and post performance-based assessments to determine the performance gaps and if performance goals are met
    • Experience with industry assessment/testing tools
