The Senior Instructional Design Specialist works collaboratively in a remote and as-needed status with the project staff and Federal clients in the production of online courses and other related digital learning materials. Through collaboration with other stakeholders, design instructional materials that are both engaging and effective. This role assists in the development of course materials that are functional, intuitive, informative, and consistent with sound instructional design principles. This position reviews developed materials for alignment to learning goals and objectives and continually explore new technologies for potential application to solve instructional problems.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Collaborate with clients and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to establish design specifications, including writing learning objectives, sequencing topics, providing content development, and designing activities and assessments.
- Develop storyboards and scripts using SME-provided content.
- Review deliverables for completeness, compliance with standards, and consistency with the detailed design plan.
- Review the instructional soundness of training materials that are produced and provide actionable feedback for revisions if needed.
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to plan and implement learning solutions through application of adult learning theory and emerging educational technology
- Ability to work closely with SMEs, graphic artists, programmers, media developers, and technical writers to develop instructionally sound and engaging learning products
- Experience designing for various delivery approaches—physical classroom, virtual classroom, eLearning, experiential, and collaborative
- Experience with instructional design approaches, such as ADDIE, Universal Design, and Agile (SAM)
- Proven track record designing and developing learning solutions for multiple modalities; including eLearning, podcasts, video, and webinars
- Ability to manage multiple learning projects at various stages of development
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Experience with Section 508 and Accessibility standards and how they impact the content and development process
- Equipped with strong grammar, copy editing, and content quality assurance skills
- Ability to reply to emails from project team and Federal client with professionalism and in a timely manner during standard EST business hours
- Aspire to stay up to date with the latest technologies, tools, techniques, and methodologies in the learning and development area and make recommendations for future consideration
