    Summary

    The Senior Manager of Learning and Development formulates, designs, and implements learning programs to support (commercial/sales) objectives and accelerates capability throughout the function. The Senior Manager simultaneously interacts with the functions and key stakeholders and manages multiple projects that have national, long-range organizational reach. This position aligns the efforts with the overall corporate learning strategies and directly manages external contractors and leads initiatives to achieve learning and development goals.

    This position is based in Salisbury, MD at Perdue Learning University. Relocation packages are available for eligible candidates.

    Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    • Coordinates with Human Resources and Sales senior leadership and executive management to define and prioritize capability development
    • Aligns efforts with the overall corporate learning objectives
    • Acts as a training liaison between sales, marketing, and product teams
    • Selects, manages external contractors and programs
    • Manages portfolio of projects in alignment with strategic functional (Sales) objectives while meeting with key stake holders
    • Conducts gap analysis and develops remediation plan
    • Designs courses and learning experiences in various modalities including eLearning and instructor-led after performing gap analysis. Measures ROI
    • Embeds and formalizes learning for consistency in new hires, onboarding, and various experience and position levels throughout the function
    • Facilitates curriculum virtually and in person
    • Performs administration of the programs, including COMMS, LMS, Data Analysis
    • Measures and reports learning analytics

    Minimum Education and Experience

    Bachelors Degree and 5+ years of relevant experience. Must be able to travel up to 20-25% as business needs require.

     

    Experience should include:

    • 2-3 years relevant business experience (sales enablement)
    • 1-2+ years of direct learning and development or organizational development experience
    • 1-2+ years leading project teams and/or staff of developing projects with broad scope and reach
    • Demonstrated experience with planning and forging alliances. Planning for corporate learning solutions, specifically in sales and marketing. Experience leading complex, cross-functional projects for high business impact in multiple languages. Experience building competency models and aligning learning initiatives to model. Knowledge of industry a plus. Commercial and sales capability building required.
    • L & D best practices and technologies. Strong business acumen and broad knowledge of business initiatives and indicators and the use of performance consulting and instructional design technologies as well as progressive “best in class” learning strategies to impact business results. Maintains knowledge of current and future trends in learning technologies/media. Partners with business leadership to build effective learning opportunities for all levels of the organization. Plans and executes projects and manages a portfolio of projects on an ongoing basis.
    • Instructional Design experience in e-learning, virtual and in-person environments
    • Leadership Development Experience

    • Excellent consulting, negotiation, presentation, and customer service skills; able to influence without direct authority
    • Building and maintains relationships with internal and external business partners, including academic institutions, external consortiums and workforce development boards, and other professional organizations
    • Coaching for enhanced performance and mentors for career development
    • Effective in cross-cultural environments and working with internal customers
    • Sourcing/selecting training providers/solutions- Sourcing of vendors to meet the needs of the audience; selection of learning resources that meet both the development and cultural needs of learners; negotiates best price. Deploys resources to achieve business objectives
    • Budget-Identifying and prioritizing critical components needed to support L & D to establish a budget; monitor progress against budget to ensure balance; teach staff and share budget information
    • Establishing learning metrics-Build a scorecard for learning effectiveness and capability development by function

    Experience Preferred

    Masters Degree

    Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

    • Position is mostly sedentary but may require occasional moving to other offices or buildings.
    • May need to move light equipment or supplies from one place to another.
    • May need to access files, supplies and equipment.
    • Work activity is in an office, open-partitioned, cubicle environment.
