The Instructional Designer is responsible for analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation, and maintenance of training materials. Content development is focused on the following learning objectives: product knowledge, selling/customer service skills, nutrition, targeted health, operations, policies and procedures (legal requirements), and new-hire curriculum (Associate, Store Manager, District Manager, and Regional Manager). The methodology used to build content includes a blended approach (eLearning, documents, job aids, workbooks, instructor-led training, video, etc.).
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Apply tested instructional design theories, practice, and methods – specifically, the A.D.D.I.E. Methodology.
- Partner with key stakeholders and assist in determining key learning objectives/desired outcomes and create engaging content that supports the learning objectives, knowledge retention, and application of skills.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and subject-matter experts to gather relevant training resources.
- Create engaging learning resources to educate and develop GNC associates of all levels in areas such as product knowledge, selling/customer service skills, nutrition, targeted health, operations, policies and procedures (legal requirements), and new-hire curriculum (Associate, Store Manager, District Manager, and Regional Manager).
- Develop creative and engaging eLearning, documents, job aids, workbooks, instructor-led training, and videos.
- Leverage graphic and visual design skills to drive learner engagement and support completions.
- Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role-plays, exercises, games, assessments, etc.)
- Review and update the existing content library and perform maintenance on all newly developed content as needed.
- Maintain and archive all digital assets in accordance with company guidelines within shared network drive.
- Assist with learning and development communications prior to course/training deployment to the assigned audience.
- Use Learning Management System to assign targeted audiences all learning and development content.
- Use Learning Management System to generate completion reports and dashboards for key stakeholders as needed.
- Partner with IT, HR, and L&D Team to resolve issues in the LMS (access/log-ins, course errors, and report errors).
- Plan and design curriculum in partnership with cross-functional teams, as needed (timing, format, and delivery).
- Schedule learning and development events, and facilitate workshops, as needed.
- Additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Design, Graphic Design or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the key accountabilities of the job required
- 2+ years of progressive instructional design experience required and/or proven working experience in instructional design and instructional technology.
- Understanding of Instructional Design and in-depth knowledge of adult-learning principals enabling the ability to complete tasks by utilization of the A.D.D.I.E. Methodology.
- Graphic/Visual design skills (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, Animate, and Character Animator) preferred
- Proficiency with course authoring software (i.e., Articulate and Captivate).
- Proficiency with document authoring software (MS Office Suite, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Acrobat).
- Previous retail experience and knowledge of nutrition preferred.
- High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications
- Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning)
- Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts
- Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients
- Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
- Ability to work with and influence peers and senior management
- Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting
Base Salary: $60,000.00 to $75,000.00
The base salary range represents the low and high end of the anticipated salary range. The actual base salary offered for this position depends on several factors including knowledge, skills, experience, and location. Our base salary is one component of GNC’s competitive total rewards strategy.
