The Instructional Designer is responsible for developing and maintaining training materials on various platforms to improve the development and skillsets for associates. They will continually review and adapt training methods to ensure information and education are delivered in manners that are relatable and retainable for associates.
Essential Job Functions:
- Maintain current procedure manuals and training manuals, and develop new materials as necessary
- Create and maintain Assistant Manager Trainee and Designated Assistant Manager training skill requirements and department tests
- Construct department manager training skill requirements and department tests, as well as regular updates
- Create training and development materials and media (audio, video, simulations, courses, role plays, educational games, etc.)
- Implement electronic data capture for training programs
- Research new innovations in both learning design and education
- Evaluate and apply new eLearning materials
- Ability to write, effective copy, instructional text, and audio and video scripts
- Ensure all aspects of company policy and procedures regarding good business and department practices are followed
- Post to Training Departments SharePoint page and maintain the quality content, as needed
- Produce computer documents and files, utilizing various types of software and applications
- Complete projects and other job duties as assigned by the Director of Training
- Maintain regular attendance
- This is a salaried position and will constitute whatever schedules necessary to adequately perform the essential job functions. This person must remain flexible on start and stop times, lunches, and weekends
Additional Job Functions:
- Prepare certificates upon request
- Proofread and revise educational materials checking for formatting, spelling, punctuation, and grammar
- Understand and follow confidentiality policy regarding company information as well as personnel information
- Follow all safety and security measures and guidelines.
Qualifications:
- High School degree, supplemented by college degree and/or related experience
- Experience in training, professional writing, and learning management systems, preferred
- Ability to type with speed and accuracy
- Intermediate knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook software
- Knowledge of design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (including but not limited to Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Audition, etc.), Vyond Video Animation, and Captivate, preferred
- Experience in teaching, training, professional writing, learning management systems, graphic design, or web technology
- Ability to recognize and prioritize work-related needs and provide recommendations to pursue successful completion
- Ability to efficiently read and write in the English language
- Must be professional, organized, and dependable
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with individuals throughout the company
- Must possess a valid and unrestricted drivers license
- Must possess the ability to conduct oneself in a professional and confidential manner
- Must be self-sufficient and work with minimal direct supervision
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions, perform routine and repetitive tasks and have constant contact/interaction with various levels of individuals daily
- Ability to attend on-site work during normal business hours, in the typical work week, as well as additional time as needed to fulfill job duties through regular attendance
