This position is responsible for designing and developing learning solutions to support business objectives. Consults with stakeholders to conduct needs assessment, identify learning objectives, design and develop efficient and effective learning solutions. Leverages current instructional design best practices and adult learning principles to create the most effective learning experiences. Develops and implements blended learning solutions which might include e-learning, synchronous and asynchronous learning programs, job aids, videos, assessments, and other effective learning deliverables. Consults, trains and serves as a resource in the use of instructional systems and tools as related to self-directed or blended learning. Recommends change management tools to be used in combination with the chosen learning solutions to ensure effective learning outcomes.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct learning needs assessment in partnership with business leaders, HRBPs and other key stakeholders to determine learning needs and learning objectives.
  • Consult on adult learning theory, systematic instructional design, and performance improvement solutions to address business needs that require learning solutions.
  • Design and develop learning materials and experiences to meet learning objectives.
  • Design optimal learning experiences to achieve learning objectives and meet business needs.
  • Take complex or voluminous materials and break it into manageable amounts of information to facilitate learning.
  • Determine the correct flow and interactivity among pieces of information to facilitate understanding.
  • Leverage the appropriate educational tools, methods and timing to facilitate learning in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Form effective and collaborative partnerships with SMEs, business leaders, HR Business Partners and other stakeholders to ensure accurate, timely and effective completion of learning solutions.
  • Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation plans to ensure that performance support strategies and tools are meeting audience needs.
  • Curate and leverage third-party learning programs as needed.
  • Design and develop learning materials and resources using various methodologies (eLearning modules, job aids, classroom training, videos, toolkits, curated learning resources, etc).
  • Research new and emerging software and hardware applications for design and distribution of instructional resources (e.g. eLearning, in-person or virtual synchronous experiences, pod casting, web-based learner collaboration, artificial intelligence, interactive soft skills, virtual classroom and people, job aids, videos, etc.)
  • Be accountable for research and development spending within budget and project timeframes. Produce measurable and documented results for all phases of instructional development, from customer needs analysis to course implementation, evaluation, and ROI.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects and other divisional projects to identify the most appropriate instructional and change management techniques to apply upon implementation. Recommend and facilitate the application of change management tools in combination with instructional design.
  • Manage learning solution deliverables, coordinate project needs, timeline, and communications.
  • Responsible for managing projects for each learning experiences; collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to ensure goals around deadlines, accuracy, quality, etc. are met.

Required Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, education, organizational development, human resources or related work experience.
  • Three to five years of experience in design and development of adult education curriculum.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply principles of adult learning, learning styles, and various instructional design approaches and processes to the learning content (ADDIE and Blooms).
  • Demonstrated ability to identify users’ needs, analyze and logically organize complex technical information, and transform complex bodies of information into professionally designed, engaging and effective programs that produce measurable results.
  • Fluency with eLearning development tools and learning management systems.
  • Competency with web instruction, strategies and current technologies. Experience in developing storyboards, collecting and editing graphics, and building all visual design and navigation in an instructionally sound and highly interactive format.
  • Ability to work with employees and management at all levels in the enterprise.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, especially written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Job Qualifications

  • Advanced degree or certification in formal instructional design, training & development, and human resources fields preferred.
  • Project management of large-scale learning initiatives. Experience in project management with certification preferred.
  • Facilitation of in-person and/or virtual training experience in a corporate setting.
  • Three or more years of experience in human resources, organization development or business management capacity.
