    The Smeal College of Business is seeking a temporary part-time instructional designer to join our eLearning Design and Innovation Group (eLDIG). The candidate hired for this position will utilize knowledge of learning science and instructional design to assist in the continual improvement and growth of the College’s teaching and learning efforts. We are searching for a team player who can work with the eLDIG team in response to Smeal’s expanding educational needs.

    The successful candidate needs to think creatively and have the ability to apply research-based learning theories including needs and task analysis, pedagogical theory, and assessment strategies. The candidate will work with colleagues and key stakeholders to innovate using best practices for the design, development, assessment, evaluation, and implementation of university-level courses and unit needs to improve Smeal’s teaching and learning.

    The candidate must be able to incorporate current approaches to online learning, including problem-based learning and case-based learning, and maintain a constant focus on usability and accessibility requirements. The ability to conduct needs analysis, curriculum mapping and have an eye to conducting quality reviews for continual course and program improvement is essential. A successful candidate must have excellent time management skills, possess strong writing skills, interpersonal skills, and have the ability to work collaboratively.

    Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in instructional design, learning science, or a related field or the equivalent combination of education and comparable skills with at least four years of formal or informal experience designing online courses in a higher-education context.
