    The Instructional Designer creates engaging learning activities, compelling course content and practice experiences for SCRI Research focused training initiatives to facilitate learners in acquiring knowledge, skills, and competencies effectively and appealingly. The Instructional Designer works with subject matter experts to identify the target audience’s training needs and applicable training deployment channels. This role utilizes instructional design theories, practices, and methods to develop training programs.

    Duties include but are not limited to:

    • Ability to independently conduct an in-depth needs analysis to identify learning objectives and determine training or other performance enhancement solutions (e.g., management reinforcement, rewards, role clarity, job aids, etc.).
    • Consult with stakeholders to develop individual training program goals, overall program objectives, and module objectives regarding training materials and selected media delivery.
    • Be an active participant in the Training & Education team; work closely and strategically with Business Line Stakeholders and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to understand the end-to-end processes, quality standards, departmental collaborations, and business impacts to obtain the self-knowledge, screenshots, and recordings required to build learning deliverables within the constraints of the project’s deployment schedule and budget.
    • Leads the creation of new training programs from scratch, with some guidance, starting with conducting a formal analysis of training needs.
    • Apply knowledge of adult learning theory to identify appropriate training media and methodologies based on audience learning styles, course content, audience location, the point within the learning process, etc. Content may be created for the traditional classroom, online classroom, self-paced e-Learning modules, or a blend of approaches that enhances retention and transfer for the learner.
    • Develop sophisticated training content, including eLearning modules, PDF materials, videos, simulation exercises, self-study, on-the-job training, computer-based training, or other methodologies as appropriate. This may include researching, selecting, and modifying existing training curricula, content, materials, and/or job aids to meet learning needs.
    • Implement and troubleshoot SCORM content within a Learning Management System.
    • Design evaluation strategies, criteria, and tools to determine whether desired learning and performance outcomes are achieved. Consistently reviews program evaluations, test results, and participant and manager feedback on training effectiveness to make recommendations for program improvement.
    • Handle vendor management, statements of work, and timelines to include coordination of resources and ensuring quality of product and service levels delivered.
    • Maintain project documentation, files, and course folders.
    • Practice and adhere to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement.”
    • During your employment with Sarah Cannon, you will be routinely assigned training requirements. You are expected to complete any training assignments by the due date.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree
    • 3+ year’s experience in Instructional Design
    • Intermediate knowledge of Adult Learning Theory, Organizational Development, Evaluation Methods, and Change Management.
    • Intermediate knowledge about methods to design complex content and training for multiple delivery modalities (traditional classroom, online classroom, self-paced e-Learning modules, community learning).
    • Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio/video scripts.
    • Intermediate skill required to create, edit, publish, and maintain SCORM, audio, video, and other forms of training deliverables.
    • Intermediate knowledge on voice over practices and editing.
    • Experience with eLearning authoring tools, and graphic design tools, specifically Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Captivate, Articulate Storyline, Rise.
    • Solid knowledge of at least one Learning Management System (LMS)
