    Job Summary:
    The Instructional Technologist facilitates effective, technology-rich teaching and learning through supporting faculty in the identification and use of appropriate educational, instructional, and emerging technologies that engage students and enhance their success. The Instructional Technologist is responsible for coordinating the design and delivery of ongoing development for faculty on both the innovative use of learning technologies for effective teaching and on the creation of a learning environment that is appropriate and accessible for all learners. The instructional technologist maintains a repository of training aids and best-practice resources related to these roles.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    • Strong interpersonal and listening skills, organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to complete the “Applying the Quality Matters Rubric” training course upon hire.
    • Technical writing skill and the ability to produce professional job aids and training materials.
    • Advanced knowledge of the Brightspace learning management system, Microsoft 365 cloud computing platform, classroom presentation technologies, presentation software, eLearning authoring tools (Articulate Storyline, Camtasia, etc.), and mobile device learning applications (Kahoot, Poll Everywhere, etc.).
    • Ability to determine the technical needs of the client, troubleshoot difficulties, and effectively communicate with information technology staff.
    • Ability to quickly research and implement appropriate new technologies, tools, techniques, and methodologies in consultation with appropriate campus partners.
    • Problem solving skills and the ability to lead, instruct, and handle a large variety of details and to work with all levels of the organization.
    Required Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree in instructional technology, education, or a related field
    • Background in Web design, User Experience design (UX), or Accessibility design
    • Advanced knowledge of several of the following: learning management systems, cloud computing platforms, presentation software, eLearning authoring tools, and classroom presentation technologies, and mobile device learning applications.
    • Experience with integrating technology into the classroom or a professional training environment
    • Experience with post-production tasks including video and audio editing, effects, branding and file compression.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Master’s degree
    • Brightspace Learning Management System experience
    • Completion of the “Applying the Quality Matters Rubric” training course, completion of the Quality Matters Teaching Online Certificate, or other experience with Online Course Quality Assurance.
    • Community College work experience

    • Working in collaboration with the Dean of Academic Support and Effectiveness and the Instructional Designer, coordinates the design and delivery of an ongoing professional development program based on research-based best-practices on the use of learning technologies for effective teaching and accessibility.
    • Develops learning experiences and self-directed training materials based on needs identified by administration, or in surveys, self-assessments, and other measurements.
    • Works directly with faculty to craft learning experiences and select appropriate media and presentation tools for online courses or in-class delivery.
    • Support faculty on the conversion of existing course material into quality technology enhanced online or on-campus content.
    • Assists faculty in the understanding and use of Quality Matters standards for online course design, with an emphasis on aligning technology enhanced instructional materials with learning activities, assessments, and outcomes.
    • Assist with media development for online learning, such as high-quality engaging audio, video, and interactive media.
    • Serve as system administrator for instructional software platforms such as EchoVideo or KahootEDU.
    • Assists in enhancing teaching and learning through the identification, evaluation, implementation, and integration of effective educational technology innovations, tools techniques or methodologies into the curriculum.
    • Coordinate with Information Technology staff, Organizational Development staff and other campus partners to ensure effective implementation, functionality and promotion of implemented instructional technology tools and resources.
    • Collects and disseminates information pertaining to best practices in teaching and learning and innovative uses of technology.
    • Generates activity reports as well as coordinates, documents, and evaluates projects.
    • Chair or Co-Chair the Online Learning Committee and/or Innovation Center for Teaching and Learning Advisory Committee.
    • Other duties as assigned.
