    The Instructional Designer actively collaborates and engages with faculty and subject matter experts to design and build online credit and non-credit courses/programs and instructional assessments and activities in microchip technologies, production, manufacturing, and industries policy. The ideal Instructional Designer must have a proven understanding of workforce development curriculum (broadly defined), corporate training and development programming, adult learning methodologies, rapid eLearning authoring tools, course design, development and support, and the ability to thrive within a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

     

    Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred.
    • 5-8 years of instructional design and course building experience in a University setting.
    • Knowledge/application of adult learning principles.
    • Willing to interact with subject matter experts and faculty.
    • Attention to detail/excellent interpersonal/communication skills; Experience: content production; higher ed/academic setting; course design/instructional design/teaching; designing/delivering/evaluating professional development for faculty; creating/administering online training; quality improvement/assessment in blended/online teaching formats; delivering research-based, learner-centered course development support.

     

    Job Specific Qualifications
    • Handle concurrent assignments while maintaining a collegial & professional demeanor.
    • Thrive in open collaborative environment; advise on best practices & support for instructors using university-supported LMS.
    • Work in stressful situations & manage time effectively; prioritize tasks to meet objectives/goals; develop workflows/procedures.
    • Expand workload capacity during peak periods; lead/collaborate on projects/initiatives.
    • Build active learning strategies to address diverse learning styles/abilities/backgrounds in blended/online formats.
    • Proficiency in: course development tools (Storyline, Captivate); use of Google Suite & PM software.

     

    Responsibilities
    • Prepare for and lead organized yet adaptive meetings with subject matter experts to gather information and buy-in on customized online courses and reinforce course development process, as well as establish milestones deadlines and gain buy-in from course developers to meet deadlines.
    • Track and report frequently the statuses of courses throughout the development process.
    • Utilize eLearning authoring tools to design interactive learning solutions.
    • Manage intake and organization of digital assets throughout course development process.
    • Manage courses independently with continued support from the development team.
    • Define objectives for courses/ curricula; Outline concepts for courses/ curricula, defining (needs for) the course medium, content delivery, assessments, accompanying materials, and complementary learning approaches.
    • Design assessments and meaningful course interactions to increase learning and retention.
    • Work with video production and graphics sources to produce draft and final versions of course material.
    • Seek out and engage with opportunities to think creatively and find innovative solutions to online course delivery challenges.
    • Ability to articulate passion for driving positive learner outcomes through innovation in digital education.
    • Develop content in collaboration with faculty.
    • Build new courses in LMS.
    • Review and reformat course content before course materials and content is added to LMS.
    • File and organize reviewed course content and other curriculum related materials.
    • Update content for existing courses in the LMS.
    • Design and build graded assessments using provided content.
    • Reviewing course materials for quality and consistency.
    • Learning new and emerging technologies.
    • Other duties as assigned.
