The Learning Designer provides course design and development support, consultation in effective online and digital pedagogy, and faculty training and professional development to a wide range of faculty subject matter experts, including part-time fully-online faculty and full-time campus-based research faculty. The Learning Designer supports online, blended, and flipped course design and development projects, including content development and the course production process; solves instructional challenges encountered in the delivery of online and blended learning environments; and advises faculty on effective practices and instructional design methods. In the area of instructional design projects, the Learning Designer works with the Associate Director to conduct needs assessments, coordinate stakeholder communications and schedules, evaluate user feedback, and analyze project successes and areas for improvement. The Learning Designer reports to the Associate Director of Learning Design and is a member of the Library staff.

The hiring range for this position is $78,600 – $83,900.
This is a union position. Employees working in this position are covered by the collective bargaining agreement between the University and Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 888. Provisions related to wages, benefits, and other terms of employment are contained in the agreement.

Responsibilities:
Instructional Design (60%)
- Provide learning design consultation, guidance, and support to faculty subject matter experts in the design and development of
online, blended, and flipped courses. - Consult on the development of course outcomes and objectives, faculty-created course materials, development of interactive
courseware and multimedia elements, discussion prompts, and assignments and assessments, ensure alignment to course
outcomes and recommend effective practices for online course facilitation. - Curate external materials to support learning objectives, integrating field best practices, the latest technology, and industry
experts. - Provide instructional design support to faculty seeking assistance with the development of blended and flipped courses, and
those receiving University support to pursue digital teaching projects. - Develop and support faculty subject matter experts with the creation of dynamic learning content to enhance digital teaching
and learning projects and initiatives across the institution. - Track course development project completion, coordinate review and feedback of program chairs as applicable, and report on
overall project health. Establishes timeline and milestone - Ensure project milestones are met and manage internal and external resources.
Instructional Design Projects in Coordination with the Associate Director (20%)
- In consultation with the Associate Director, conduct needs assessments related to instructional design projects, coordinate
stakeholder communications and schedules, gather feedback, and analyze project successes and areas for improvement - Consult with faculty about online and hybrid learning techniques and practices to align with learning best practices and improve
learner engagement - Serve as liaison to several Rabb GPS programs, which involves overseeing instructional design support for new courses,
instructional design support for revision and content refresh of existing courses, coordinating feedback, and serving as a
consultative resource during program review
Library Collaboration with the University (20%)
- Attend library and University staff meetings to provide updates on instructional design and eLearning projects to internal and
external stakeholder - Collaborate on strategic projects within the Library, , the Rabb School, and with other university departments as needed.
Represent the institution in various committees to contribute to University wide approach to online, hybrid, and flipped learning
at conferences or related events. - Contribute to internal and external efforts to raise awareness of online and digital teaching and learning.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in instructional design, instructional technology, education or related field.
- 3 to 5 years of experience working as an instructional designer, instructional technologist, or a similar role within a higher education setting.
- Experience supporting and managing online, blended, and flipped course design and development projects.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects both independently and in a collaborative environment.

- Experience with or demonstrated commitment to developing inclusive and equitable learning experiences.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching
- Experience with Moodle LMS
- Experience with Knowledge Management principles and/or practice
This position currently requires 1-2 days on-site.
