    Job Summary:

    The Instructional Design Specialist supports faculty development and course development across four colleges; assists faculty with teaching and learning. Supports a team approach to faculty development related to eLearning as well as face-to-face courses. Delivers workshops and Tips in course design and course management. Writes documentation and creates learning objects to assist faculty developers. Identifies faculty development needs with respect to teaching and learning; provides on-demand, individual and group offerings to meet these needs. Assists in the development and delivery of the University’s distance learning initiatives. Assists faculty and course assistants with online and blended learning mediums and tools; focuses on effective teaching and learning strategies to achieve the stated outcomes, and mastering learning management system tools and multimedia applications. Assists in troubleshooting Learning Management System issues. Assists with Accessibility and Universal Design initiatives across Upstate Medical University. This individual works with members of the Educational Communications Dept., various offices across the university, and in SUNY.

    Minimum Qualifications:Bachelors Degree in Instructional Design, Adult Education, Educational Technology or a related field and either four (4) years experience teaching including the use of a Learning Management System OR four (4) years experience supporting faculty in their use of an LMS system required. Familiarity with instructional techniques, strategies and methods to maximize teaching and learning effectiveness. Demonstrated skills in communications (presentation and writing skills), and in planning, implementing and evaluating educational programs. Additional required qualifications include: Demonstrated organizational skills; Proven record in the ability to work as a team member, and independently; Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in administering learning management systems and multimedia applications in real time and asynchronous learning; Demonstrated written, presentation, and interpersonal skills that enable one to work effectively with diverse audiences; Demonstrated knowledge of and proficiency in multimedia applications for use in synchronous and asynchronous learning; Proven skills in planning and implementing faculty development experiences.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Masters degree and online teaching experience preferred.

    Work Days:Monday-Friday, 8:00a-5:00p
