    Join the Colorado School of Public Health as an Instructional Designer. This position is a key member of the school’s Rocky Mountain Public Health Training Center (RM-PHTC), out of the Center for Public Health Practice (CPHP). This position will work to expand learning opportunities for the public health workforce by engaging with faculty, external partners, and subject matter experts to develop learning objectives, identify appropriate development tools, and compile and develop training materials. This position will be responsible for providing technical support to training participants and instructors, as well as instructional design support for the development of new learning opportunities, including multimedia and multimodal content, online courses and modules, and webinars. This individual will also be responsible for video and audio editing and learning management systems and is expected to follow emerging and novel practices and research in public health training, education, and instructional design.

    The Instructional Designer will be part of a fast-paced workplace and diverse multidisciplinary team, requiring effective communication skills. The ideal candidate will take personal initiative to be highly organized and adept at implementing and following processes, adapting as project priorities shift.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop asynchronous learning opportunities using a variety of tools, such as:
      • Adobe Creative Cloud (specifically, Illustrator and Premier Pro)
      • Camtasia
      • Articulate Storyline & Rise
      • H5P
      • Genially
    • Develop, maintain, and update training portals, web assets, and learning management systems using a variety of platforms, such as:
      • D2L Brightspace
      • Canvas
      • WordPress
    • Learn new technologies and methods using resources available to the RM-PHTC, like Lynda.com.
    • Work with subject matter experts to identify the most appropriate development tools and assist with design and development of online training content and courses.
    • Train individuals or groups of faculty and staff in the use of the learning management systems and other applications as needed.
    • Provide technical assistance and course management for workforce training courses to support facilitators, subject matter experts, instructors, and learners utilizing training platforms.
    • Provide technical support for webinars and bi-directional video events.

    This is a full-time position and reports to the Assistant Director of Instructional Design.

    Qualifications:

    Minimum Requirements

    • A bachelor’s degree in instructional design, instructional technology, education, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
    • At least one (1) year of professional level experience in instruction, instructional technology, web development, media development, systems management, workforce training, training development, and/or higher education learning opportunity development.

    Substitution: Relevant work in instruction, instructional technology, web development, media development, systems management, workforce training, training development, and/or higher education learning opportunity development may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, Camtasia, and Articulate Storyline.
    • Experience managing web sites and/or working with learning management systems.
    • Experience working with a variety of web conferencing, presentation, distance learning, and video editing tools and software.
    • Experience with HTML coding or other programming experience.
    • Experience with learning management systems (i.e., D2L, Canvas, Moodle, etc.) to create and manage online courses, user accounts, course settings and enrollment options.
    • Experience teaching and supporting individuals new to technology.
    • Demonstrated experience in developing and designing interactive educational products using a wide spectrum of current educational technologies.
    • Experience working as part of a team to identify new design methodologies, delivery techniques, and educational technologies.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Understanding of instructional design principles
    • Basic understanding of accessibility standards/inclusive design
    • Graphic/multimedia design skills for creating visually compelling learning materials
    • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
    • Strong attention to detail.
    • Ability to learn new skills and technologies quickly.
    • Comfortable receiving and providing feedback on work performed.

    Anticipated Salary Range:

    The starting target salary for this position has been established as $57,691 – $59,000.

    The above salary represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation depending on the level.
