The Learning Designer is a key member of the talent team in creating the program and instructional design of our training and development. This person champions and supports Red Lobster’s efforts to attract, train, develop, and retain the best employees. This person focuses on designing and implementing our employee training and development needs into engaging educational courses.
The Learning Designer will report to the Director of Training and Development to deliver exceptional human resources solutions and support, primarily for employees and leaders in Operations. This position does not currently have direct reports.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the research, design, production, implementation, and evaluation of training and development programming for operations including Certified Restaurant Supervisors, Managers in Training, Restaurant Managers, General Managers, and Directors of Operations.
- Preparing training materials in physical and digital formats.
- Experience structuring educational programs and are familiar with both classroom style and web based courses.
- Create engaging course content (e-learning, videos, quizzes, activities and etc.)
- Research, recommend and implement modern educational methods (e.g., Gamification, AI and etc.)
- Build out interactive blended learning
- Shoot, edit and produce video based learning
- Ability to rapidly formulate proof of concepts to create innovative, experiential and on brand learning experiences.
- Comfort with abstract concepts and ideas as initial business needs are scoped, with demonstrated success working through ambiguity and change.
- Convert complex topics and simplify into digestible learning experience that will support the business

Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, education technology or related field.
- Hands- on experience with Learning Management Software
- 2 plus years work experience as an instructional designer or similar role
- Experience designing, developing, and supporting organization-wide talent management programs that cover training and development.
- Experience with instructional design, eLearning, and adult learning theories.
- Demonstrated success with creating and managing project deliverables of a complex large scale, ranging from technical skill through behavioral skill development.
- Superior knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (e.g., In Design, Photoshop) and eLearning development tools such as Articulate 360, Rise, Storyline
- Experience in creating and producing graphics designs
Preferred Education and Experience
- Master’s degree in instructional design, education technology or related field.
- Certifications such as Design Learning or CPTD.
- Experience capturing metrics and producing various employment reports.
- Experience with or certifications in predictive and behavioral assessment tools.
