The Program Manager, Instructional Design is responsible for designing and developing engaging, innovative, and effective learning experiences for YMCA staff (both instructor-led and online). This is an excellent opportunity for a creative thinker to join our team and continue to expand our learning portfolio. This role will coordinate activities with Content, Partner and UX teams in L&D and contribute to the execution and continual improvement of learning experiences.

This position ensures that high-impact leadership-development programs enable competency development and career progression among YMCA leaders and supports building and retaining the talent pipeline in the Y network, ensuring success and impact of leaders at all levels.

 

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in progressive instructional design assignments focusing on analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation with demonstrated creation of new course materials, from conception, that support all direction and learning modalities (ILT, vILT, eLearning, video, microlearning, gamification, job aids).
  • Instructional design experience with a focus on instructor-led course development, both new course creation and existing course improvement is required. Experience with Soft Skills (e.g. employee development courses, management training, etc.) and operational subject matter is preferred.
  • Ability to travel approximately 5 – 15% of the time.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills are required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office 365, SharePoint, Teams and Outlook) are required.
  • Capacity to learn and navigate multiple technology systems (e.g., Cvent, Qualtrics, WebEx, Zoom, Salesforce, Learning Management Systems)
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of high-performance teams in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Demonstrated project management skill and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain collaborative partnerships with individuals across a broad range of groups.
  • Organizational and time management skills are required.
  • Commitment to the YMCA character development values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility is required.
  • Agile project management experience is preferred.

 

Essential Functions
  • Leads full cycle design, development, and implementation for new and existing learning experiences to support facilitators and participants in all delivery channels utilizing adult learning principles and instructional design innovation.
  • Works with project teams to identify and describe the needs of the target audience.
  • Creates design documents for new and existing courses that specify learning objectives, learning strategies, learning materials, design specifications, measures of student learning, and learning impact.
  • Designs and develops materials for new and existing courses to support both facilitators and participants in various delivery channels utilizing adult learning principles. Examples of delivery channels include instructor-led (classroom and web-based) and self-paced (paper delivery and e-learning delivery).
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of instructional programs by creating evaluation components to track outcomes and ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Builds e-learning solutions using interactive online learning models that create engagement through the use of adult learning principles and delivers maximum opportunity for skill development and knowledge transfer.
  • Oversees consultant/vendor course design/development effort as needed.
  • Selects and modifies existing instructional materials as well as develops new instructional materials.
  • Works with project teams as appropriate to assist with training needs analysis within the assigned population.
  • Monitor and report on progress to stakeholders throughout the workplan with status reporting and key performance indicators, managing risks and issues to ensure proper communication with stakeholders.
  • Manage learning and leadership development solutions through to completion including needs analyses, design, development, delivery, adoption and ongoing review and improvement.
