    The Learning & Instructional Design Specialist will work closely with the Director of Learning and Development to design, develop, and implement effective learning solutions for the organization. This role requires expertise in learning management system administration and instructional design principles. The Specialist will play a key role in strategizing and creating engaging and impactful training programs that enhance employee performance and support organizational goals.

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

    • Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers.
    • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), vendors, and stakeholders to gather training requirements and determine learning objectives.
    • Design and develop comprehensive and engaging training materials, including instructor-led training, e-learning modules, videos, job aids, and other instructional resources.
    • Curate and vet content from diverse sources to develop comprehensive learning plans for various levels of staff.
    • Utilize instructional design methodologies, adult learning principles, and multimedia tools to create effective and interactive learning experiences.
    • Manage and administer the learning management system (LMS), including course creation, user management, content uploads, reports, and system maintenance.
    • Ensure training programs are aligned with company policies, procedures, and industry best practices.
    • Conduct needs assessments and evaluate training effectiveness through surveys, assessments, and feedback mechanisms.
    • Continuously improve and update existing training materials based on feedback and changing business needs.
    • Stay updated with emerging trends and technologies in learning and instructional design to enhance training programs.
    • Perform related responsibilities as required or assigned.

    Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, or a related field; or a Bachelor’s degree with 2-3 years of proven experience in learning management system administration and instructional design.


    Experience:

    • Grocery or retail experience is a plus.
    • Minimum of two years of experience in a training or development capacity required.
    • Three or more years of experience using:
      • Video/editing software
      • Screen capturing software.
      • Project Management Software
      • Knowledge of adult learning theories/working with adults.
      • Knowledge of rapid authoring and/or eLearning authoring tools.
    • Proven experience in learning management system administration and instructional design, preferably in a corporate, organizational, or retail setting.
    • Proficient in using e-learning authoring tools (such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, or similar) and multimedia software.
    • Strong knowledge of instructional design principles, adult learning theory, and instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM).
    • Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) and experience in managing and administering LMS platforms.
    • Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with SMEs, stakeholders, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
    • Creativity and innovation in designing engaging and interactive learning experiences.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver high-quality training materials within established timelines.

    • All computer applications and hardware related to the performance of the essential functions of the job, including Microsoft® Office, Adobe® Creative Cloud, online survey tools, and video editing software.

    • Accurately proofread copy with accompanying knowledge of grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
    • Preparing clear and concise correspondence, reports, and other written materials.

    • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
    • Ability to travel to various locations and to access reliable transportation to do so.


    Work Environment/Physical Demands:

    • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
    • Standing/ walking up to 100% of work hours.
    • Hand use: Grasping, manipulation, pushing and pulling. Work also may require bending, squatting and reaching.
