ABOUT THE POSITION
The Instructional Designer will design and develop high quality courses and curriculum for heavy equipment training programs. This role requires proficiency in all aspects of instructional design: interviewing SMEs, researching, creating storyboards, designing interactive learning experiences using adult learning models, analyzing, and evaluating content, developing assessments, uploading content and managing the LMS, tracking and reporting, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is an organized, motivated, problem solver with a passion for creating learning experiences that engage learners, align with business strategies, and lead to high performance.
Key Deliverables
- Design, develop and maintain training programs on time
- Track and report on published assets, metrics, work in progress and new requests
- Continually evaluate content for quality, accuracy, and improvements
- Collaborate and build relationships with stakeholders and colleagues
- Be proactive and take full ownership of assigned responsibilities and learning programs
Key Activities & Responsibilities
- Conduct training needs analyses to identify the knowledge, skills, and competencies required for technical service, sales and leadership programs for heavy equipment.
- Develop an instructional strategy/learning plan based on established learning objectives for the given audience.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and subject matter experts to design and adapt content that meets specific training needs.
- Write and edit blueprints, storyboards, video scripts, job aids and other strategic learning documentation.
- Design and develop blended learning solutions that include, but are not limited to,
instructor-led, eLearning, mobile, video, gamification, simulation, micro-learning, and virtual classroom.
- Use innovative assessments and sustainment tools before and after the formal learning experience.
- Manage multiple projects to achieve project goals and meet deadlines.
- Provide guidance regarding course content, methods, and media used for delivery.
- Drive curriculum enhancements, innovation, design and research to ensure the
development and continuous improvement of high-quality learning programs for internal and external needs.
- Review content and resources to ensure adherence to development standards and
industry best practices.
- Stay abreast of training trends, technologies and available resources, and makes
recommendations for the best value resources.
- Manage and maintain courses within the Learning Management System, web delivery, mobile apps, internal training repository and other delivery platforms.
- Follow the direction of the Director of Technical Training for adult learning theories,
design, branding, and training program development.
To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:
- Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, education, graphic design, computer science, software design, web design, or related field
- 3+ years of instructional design experience or related experience in training
development and learning methodologies
- Link to sample portfolio
- Proficiency in industry development and SCORM authoring tools (Articulate360 and Adobe Captivate), and learning management systems (Absorb, Docebo, LearnUpon).
- Experience with blended e-Learning solutions.
- Self-starter with the ability to work in a team-based atmosphere with high standards for accuracy, quality, and innovation.
- Ability to work in a high volume, production environment that requires flexibility and adaptability to change.
- Stays on top of assigned work priorities, checking with leadership to clarify, confirm, and strategize for priority, and workflow.
- Strong organizational skills and project management skills with the ability to meet
deadlines.
- Proven competency in launching and delivering multiple projects/programs.
- Strong writing ability.
- Critical thinking and good communication skills.
- Strong work ethic.

Pay: $56,000.00 – $70,000.00 per year
