Job Responsibilities
  • Apply current instructional design theory, adult learning theory, and best practices to create effective learning and training opportunities
  • Assess the needs of learners and create learning solutions that address business needs and supports current organizational and company objectives (Including but not limited to instructor led training, e-learning courses, video-based learning, hybrid learning environments, microlearning, simulations, AR/VR, gamification, facilitator and participant guides, process documentation, infographics, job aids and coaching)
  • Convert traditional classroom-based learning content to other delivery systems, such as mobile or eLearning delivery
  • Work with stakeholders and clients to provide proper analysis of requested needs
  • As required, develop certification processes for new and existing programs
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to learn the necessary information to design and create engaging techniques and effective learning experiences
  • Apply ADDIE or other approved development models as required for all course development
  • Utilize available technologies to enhance the learning opportunity and create an immersive and interactive learning experience (This may include audio, video, simulations, or gamification, for example)
  • Review and continuously improve existing training content based on feedback from learners and stakeholders
  • Analyze existing training delivery to determine the best method for future delivery
  • Apply evaluation models to assure the highest level of training effectiveness
  • Build objective-based assessments that gauge if critical skills and competencies are met
  • In the absence of direct supervision, ability to maintain a flexible and adaptable approach to continuously evolve and ensure that all project goals and deadlines are met and are within budget
  • Serve as a lead on large courseware development projects and possess a high degree of independence to produce quality learning programs
  • Utilize the highest level of professionalism and review/edit all produced materials to ensure they are of an excellent quality and error free; assist team members in review of their materials
  • Provide timely updates and project reports as requested by department management
  • Collaborate with leadership and employees to identify curriculum needs to support continued workforce development
  • Participate on teams to represent Learning & Development and ensure the correct performance and learning solutions are included
  • Establish relationships with leadership as required to ensure training needs are appropriately addressed
  • Be engaged in constant learning, always seeking to improve your skills and abilities
  • Must possess excellent communication styles and skills for all audiences including executive level management
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum education required of the position
Bachelor degree (Masters preferred) or the equivalent military/electrical utility technical training experience in one of the following areas: Instructional Systems Design, Instructional Technology,
Instructional Organizational (I/O) Psychology, Educational Psychology, or Adult Education
Minimum experience required of the position
Training Specialist:
  • 3+ years of courseware development experience with Master’s degree.
  • 6+ years of courseware development experience with Bachelor’s degree.
  • 9+ years of courseware development experience with no degree.
Training Specialist Senior:
  • 5+ years of courseware development experience with Master’s degree.
  • 10+ years of courseware development experience with Bachelor’s degree.
  • 15+ years of courseware development experience with no degree.
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position
Proficient with video production and publishing
Highly proficient with MS applications (Excel, Project and PowerPoint). Strong interpersonal skills a must.
Office environment with minimal physical requirements
Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position
Valid driver’s license required.
