Moodle LMS allows you to extend the functionality by using Moodle plugins. There are more than 2050 plugins in the official Moodle plugins directory. By using plugins, you can extend Moodle’s functionality to meet your organizations learning goals. In this post, we will be discussing about Consent Form Moodle plugin.
The Consent Form plugin allows you to hide/reveal course elements in dependence of a consent form agreement/refusal by students. It is very helpful if you want to keep a record of student’s consent for example to mention that the work submitted in the assignment is their own and is not plagiarized from any other source. There are many other use cases possible for this plugin.
You can download the latest version of the Consent form plugin from the Moodle plugins directory here. In case you are new to Moodle, please follow this guide to learn how to install a Moodle plugin. Once installed you can start using the plugin straight away.
When you add the Consent form Activity to your Moodle course, you can see the options to mention the consent text which the students need to agree. Then you can choose the course activities/resources which shall be hidden until the student agrees to the consent form.
Kindly note that this plugin needs ‘Enablecompletion’ setting to be turned on at site level as well as course level.
This plugin seems to be serving a specific purpose of recording student’s consent which can be a declaration statement. During testing on my local development Moodle site, I found that this plugin is able to do its job pretty nicely. You can also setup a revoke button in addition to Agree/Refuse button which allows the options to students in case they change their mind.
