Moodle Admins – Serve SCORM Packages remotely to your clients easily

-

Moodle LMS is a widely used open-source learning management system (LMS) which is known for its adaptability and extensive range of plugins. These plugins enhance Moodle’s functionality, enabling educators to deliver a more enriched learning experience. In this post we will understand about SCORM Remote plugin and how it can be used.

The SCORM Remote activity plugin allows you to upload a SCORM and then serve it remotely to other learning management systems on other domains using a thin SCORM wrapper. The benefit of using this plugin is that you need to upgrade the SCORM package at a single place remotely and it will be updated on all domains. You can also set allowed seat limits for each domain.

The SCORM Remote plugin offers various advantages such as:

  • Outsource the learning similar to how LTI works reducing the burden on the remote LMS’s admins
  • Sell your SCORM packages without giving them away
  • Add seat restriction at the domain level
  • Swap the SCORM packages in place and not require the remote LMS to do anything they automatically get the latest version of the package.

You can download the SCORM Remote Moodle plugin from the official plugins repository here.

How are you managing the SCORM packages on your Moodle site? Please share with us in the comments section below.
