Moodle Admins – Display HTML block content to specific cohort users only

-

Moodle LMS offers a great customization flexibility by using Moodle plugins. There are more than 2150 plugins contributed by the Moodle community in the official repository. In this post we will have a look at the Text on Cohorts Moodle plugin and how you can use it.

The Text on Cohorts Moodle plugin offers a very handy & useful feature to Moodle Admins. Many times the Moodle Administrators required some specific HTML content to be displayed for a specific set of users in a cohort. The core HTML block can’t work as it will display the same text to all users throughout the site.

The text on Cohorts Moodle plugin allows you to show the HTML content only to the selected cohorts. You can also choose to hide the text from the selected cohorts as an inverse operation.

You can download the plugin from the official plugins repository here. After installation you need to make sure to setup Cohorts on your Moodle site. Once you have set the cohorts then you can add this plugin on any page and create the content to be displayed for selected cohorts.

The plugin also allows you to select multiple cohorts at once. To configure the plugin and its behaviour, please visit: Site administration -> Plugins -> Blocks -> Text (on cohort)

What are the other handy Moodle plugins you are using? Please share with us in the comments section below.
