Moodle LMS is the most popular open source learning management system with more than 420+ million users in the world. Wherever elearning is used for teaching, the administrators or policy makers are always interested in customized reports. In Moodle core, there is a strong push for the inbuilt report builder since last few versions but the Configurable reports plugin remains one of the favorite tools to create customized Moodle reports.
The Configurable reports plugin is an easy to use custom reports builder which allows you to create reports even without any SQL knowledge. If you are aware about SQL queries then this plugin can fetch all the data from Moodle database to your reports.
The configurable reports plugin is essentially a block type plugin which can be added to any course to pull course specific reports and on front page to pull site wide reports. You can also choose which users will be able to view the reports. Using this plugin, you can create different types of reports such as:
- Courses reports, with information regarding courses.
- Categories reports, with information regarding categories. A courses report can be embedded in this type of report.
- Users reports, with information regarding users and their activity in a course.
- Timeline reports, this is a special type of report that displays a timeline. A course or user report can be embedded in this timeline showing data depending on the start and end time of the current row.
- Custom SQL Reports, custom SQL queries.
It also supports advanced features such as filters, pagination, logic conditions and permissions, plots, templates support, export to various formats etc.
Recently the plugin was updated after a long time to support Moodle 4.2 version. You can download the Configurable reports plugin from the official plugins repository here.
