Manage your Moodle courses at end of year by using Course Life Cycle plugin

-

Moodle LMS offers you one of the best learning management system in the world. It is being used by more than 360 million users around the world. At the end of each academic year, the teachers as well as school administrators have to go through year end procedure which includes cleaning up the courses for new session etc. In this post, we will see about the Course Life Cycle plugin which allows you to carry out year end tasks with ease.

The Course Life cycle plugin can help you with the execution of recurring tasks such as deleting old Moodle courses, performing a course rollover at the end of the session. You can also use it to set an course end date for all the courses.

You can download the Course Life Cycle plugin from the official plugins repository here. You can also defined a workflow to specify which steps to take before a course should actually be deleted. These steps might include:

  • Only consider courses, which meet certain criteria (e.g. very old courses)
  • Ask the teachers of the courses if they still need them
  • Create backups of the course
  • Delete the course

What are the other plugins you are using to clean up your Moodle at the end of the session. Please share with us in the comments section below.
