Mahara – the world’s most popular open source e-portfolio will soon get a new version release. The Mahara 22.10 which is scheduled to be released by this month end is composed of many exciting new features. The new Mahara version is now available in Release candidate version and will soon be released as a stable version.
The Mahara 22.10 is packed of exciting new features which includes:
- UX improvements around alt text and captions for images
- UX improvement to consistently to ‘Portfolio’ around the site when meaning ‘Pages and collections’
- SmartEvidence report and summary information on the matrix page
- ‘Quick edit’ options to PDF, files to download, course completion blocks
- Basic support for LTI 1.3 Advantage for Moodle
- Bootstrap 5
- Font Awesome 6 icons
- Beginning compatibility with PHP 8.1

Mahara is a free and open-source web-based electronic portfolio management system. In Mahara, students can record “evidence of learning” – such as essays, reports, reflective commentary, task lists, multi-media or artwork. Basically, anything that can be produced and stored digitally. Students e-portfolio can be used for personal reflection and development and to provide assessment evidence for your programme.
