  • At least 5 years’ experience in developing technical curriculum.

  • LMS (e.g., Cornerstone or equivalent) administration experience including eLearning publishing and learning assessments.
  • Experience creating or managing technical lab activities or lab environments.

Our program is looking for a Technical Curriculum Developer who wants be a part of developing exciting new technical courses for our future engineers. In this role, you will own the design, development and implementation of multiple curriculums, within a set of specific learning programs. You will identify learning objectives based on business goals, prioritize work based on impact, design and deliver learning solutions to meet those goals, and create proficiency assessments. You will develop engaging curriculum, activities, and guides for facilitated, virtual, and blended modalities. You will use data to evaluate and continuously improve the program. You will work closely with the program manager, and partner with technical subject matter experts and hiring managers to ensure success.

Key job responsibilities

  • Build new technical training content, identify approved technical content to be implemented and revise existing content.
  • You will have the opportunity to help define and execute the strategy for these programs.
  • Curriculum may include structured, formal learning, online synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences, and hands-on labs.
  • Work with audience representatives to understand training needs and collaborate with Subject Matter Experts across AWS (including Software Developers, Support and Systems Engineers, Program Alumni and the customer base) to build most up-to-date technical training that meets the learning objectives.
  • Work with Project Management to prioritize and deliver on the curriculum roadmap.
  • Communicate with stakeholders and leadership on timelines and blockers for training content and development.
  • Work with Project Management to maintain a dashboard of all project statuses, completion goals, backlog items, and metric tracking for visibility.
  • Make data driven recommendations to improve the quality of materials being delivered.
  • Accelerate the shift to a rapid content development strategy by leveraging agile development methods
  • Understand business and customer needs, help define the technical training roadmaps, understand technical skills required and translate them into manageable projects.
  • Seamlessly flex between managing multiple projects, outlining sprint planning, and prioritizing deliverables.

A day in the life
The qualified candidate will have excellent writing skills and the ability to translate deeply technical content into easy-to-understand training. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have experience in building technical training content, instructional design and technical documentation experience, programming experience, and thrive in an agile environment. Above all, the candidate will have a passion for learning.

  • 5 + years developing or supporting training for IT/Technical roles.
  • History of sparking improvements in learning strategy and content through collaboration and prototyping.
  • Experience in a major corporate training environment working on instructional design assignments across multiple teams or groups.
  • Industry certifications in instructional design, curriculum development, performance improvement, project management, and content-specific certifications as appropriate.
  • Experience developing and supporting training for technical teams.
  • Project management experience and the ability to prioritize, manage and complete multiple projects with tight deadlines.
  • Use date to drive the selection of proper learning solutions based on learner needs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in curriculum design, adult learning principles, and assessment strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate difficult concepts and processes using clear and simple language and visuals.
  • Demonstrated obsession regarding the customer experience; never settle for good enough, and continually inspire others to do better for the customer.
