    The Learning Consultant is responsible for delivering on the Learning and Development Strategy to create simple solutions to develop skills (interpersonal, technical, and professional) of all PetSmart associates, enabling them to deliver business results. This position will:

    • Partner with business units to determine needs as they relate to learning (both current and future state).
    • Lead the design and development of learning solutions for different areas of our business (Stores, Distribution Centers, Home Offices).
    • Manage projects and influence change.
    • Create solutions that are adopted and drive measurable impact to the business.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Lead the design and development of learning materials (i.e., posters, job aids, eLearnings, ILT, etc.) with an agile/flexible mindset.
    • Manage multiple projects and priorities with overlapping timelines and project deadlines across multiple businesses (Stores, Distribution Centers, Home Office). Multi-tasking is key.
    • Demonstrate flexibility and effectively manage changes in project scope, timelines, and priorities.
    • Work collaboratively with HR and business partners to help determine and build appropriate training solutions that increase effectiveness.
    • Develop a working knowledge of all aspects of the business and draw on the professional expertise of subject matter experts for content development. Maintain an understanding of key business objectives, metrics, and strategic plans of the organization.
    • Facilitate delivery of leadership programs, courses, workshops, onboarding events and activities. Virtual and in-person.
    • Update and modify existing training materials based on best practices, policy/procedure/product updates, organizational changes, or for continuous improvement purposes.
    • Revise and rewrite content to shape it for learning needs. Ensure content quality, accuracy, readability, and effectiveness.
    • Respond in a timely manner to team and business partners with solutions to problems and requests.
    • Create implementation plans for programs, ensuring high-quality participant experience, ongoing program sustainability and cost-effective use of resources.
    • Evaluate the impact and use analytics and trends to modify or improve programs.
    • Foster collaboration by contributing to the work of their peers by sharing resources, feedback, best practices, and innovations
    • Influence business partners and end users to adapt to change.
    • Travel up to 25%, including overnight and/or international travel, as needed.
    • Other duties as assigned.
    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
    • None.
    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
    • BA/BS degree in Instructional Design, Adult Learning, Human Resources, Business or related field strongly preferred.
    • 3 – 4 years related instructional design and/or learning and development experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Field retail, corporate retail and/or distribution experience preferred.
    • Ability to organize and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
    • Ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment that demands high quality, creativity, and consistency.
    • Must demonstrate excellent client service skills, going out of their way to anticipate and meet client needs and optimistic and enthusiastic about they do.
    • Anticipate and adapt to the changing needs of the business.
    • Must possess a passion for learning and continuous improvement; must stay current with learning principles, trends, and technologies.
    • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and respond to requests from other parts of the organization.
    • Knowledge and experience developing eLearning courses, creative concepts, scripts and storyboards.
    • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Ability to identify, distill, and synthesize key concepts from complex subject matter.
    • Ability to establish high level of credibility quickly; appropriate confidence to gain the trust and respect of business leaders, key stakeholders, and learners.
    • Ability to gain an in-depth understanding and analyze key business drivers, strategy goals, and challenges to effectively support the organization.

    TECHNICAL SKILLS:

    • Strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Strong computer literacy and technical expertise with graphic design and eLearning authoring software.
    • Experience with Articulate 360 (Storyline and Rise) Adobe Creative Suite 5 (CS5) helpful.
    • Must have experience with Microsoft Office.
