Develop courseware to support new and existing products, often though not exclusively in conjunction with Product Division.
Basic Qualification
  • Telecommunication engineering and/or technical support/NOC engineering background
  • 5+ years Instructional Design/ Technical Content Writing
  • Able to manage workflow with minimal oversight, in a fast-paced, frugal environment with multiple stakeholders and sometimes-changing priorities
  • Can conceptualize technical-functional content into something creative
  • Preferred if the candidate has a variety of eLearning development tools/course authoring tools including Camtasia, Captivate, Storyline, and Visio.
  • CCNA Trained/Certified, CCNP
  • Good design, written communication, production, and teamwork skills
  • A desire to continuously learn and explore emerging eLearning techniques and technologies.
  • Outstanding communication, writing, and grammar skills
Key Responsibilities:
  • Transfer technical input into readable, easy understandable content / topics with the right text and illustration mix for your target audience.
  • Works closely with Subject Matter Experts, developers, and other teams to obtain a deep understanding of products and services, to translate complex information into simple, polished, and engaging content.
  • Research, outline, write, and edit new and existing content.
  • Contributes to creating clear and accurate technical content under guidance from lead writer, by applying Instructional design knowledge principles, tools, and Ciena processes, products, and technology, with guidance from senior team members.
  • Addresses and rectifies errors that were identified by team members in technical content. Incorporates basic changes to technical content from senior team member, SME, and/or reviewer feedback, with guidance.
  • Helping in making instructional videos, produce content, design program workflow and measure the effectiveness of the program.
  • Restructuring raw content into concise and engaging eLearning modules whilst coordinating with Senior team members and SMEs.
  • Develop creative scripts for videos and engaging storyboards for e-learning modules (Courses, Videos, Simulations, Scenarios, etc), ILTs
  • Collaborate with internal functions and subject experts to create required content.
  • Effectively manage multiple projects and initiatives from analysis to evaluation.
Preferred qualifications
  • Telecommunication engineering/ Network Consultant Engineer/Network Support Engineer
  • Very good understanding of technical writing concepts such as VPN, MPLS, L2/L3 Routing and Switching protocols
  • Strong presentation skills
  • CCNA trained/ certified
  • Demonstrated understanding of learning management systems design, development, and implementation
