In this role, you will have the ability to be curious, demonstrate a growth mindset, and keep the learner experience front-and-center in everything you do. You will have the opportunity to conduct in-depth gap/needs analysis, develop training program goals and learning objectives, and work with a variety of subject matter experts to design some pretty darn awesome eLearning and training (including digital, in-person, and virtual)!
Key Responsibilities
Moving the Needle
- Own the development process of learning programs—from beginning to end—including needs analysis, scoping, defining deliverables, content development, implementation and sustainment, milestone and resource tracking, and reporting, with little to no leadership direction needed.
- Partner with subject matter experts, project stakeholders, and business leaders to scope projects, analyze learning or training gaps, challenges, and opportunities across MOD.
- Evaluate current training programs and manage the process to update, adapt, or archive trainings.
- Accountable for the strategies and resources to support operational process and product changes.
- Understands and communicates the learning needs of the business and recommends effective solutions that will improve the Squad experience and operational metrics.
- Proactively seek feedback from teammates and project stakeholders to ensure that learning solutions align with expectations and iterate as needed.
- Think strategically and creatively to identify curricula, learning paths, learning objectives, assessments, innovative learning activities, and collaborative exercises that align with competencies and knowledge gaps to support growth and development of our people and our business.
- Ability to distill complex concepts into manageable learning content to a variety of audiences.
Creating the learning journey
- Design, create, deliver, and sustain engaging content for all different learning styles, and provide MODules with clear strategies and tactics to achieve desired learning outcomes.
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of and ability to apply adult learning theories, utilizes iterative instructional design methodologies (i.e., ADDIE, SAM, etc.), and uses critical thinking skills and analytical approach to problem-solving and driving toward solutions.
- Implement modern blended learning solutions aligned with business priorities with an emphasis on creating engaging, interactive, learner-centric, and memory-retentive learning experiences.
- Independently draft and review storyboards and final content with subject matter experts prior to building training content and demonstrate ability to provide consultation on best practices for learning experience and outcomes.
- Design training materials that will enhance learner experience including PowerPoints, facilitator guides, participant guides, Knowledge Checks, and eLearning MODules.
- Research the current innovation in the Learning and Development world, benchmarks and analyzes key metrics within training industry in key content areas to inform instructional design recommendations.
- Facilitating knowledge transfer sessions and providing quarterly recommendations (to Learning leaders and LTSE Leadership) on strategic learning innovations to expand our learning ecosystem, and make it MOD!

- Leads the work on multiple projects concurrently (i.e., in different stages of learning project life cycles) utilizing reasonable discretion to balance competing time constraints/priorities. Inform stakeholders of updates and status while maintaining quality and deadlines.
- Support work getting done (your own and in partnership with others), while building and strengthening collaborative working relationships across the business.
- Mentor, guide, and coach Learning Program Managers on the project management process, structure, consistency, risks, timelines, etc.
- See pivots, shifting priorities, and constructive feedback as opportunities, not obstacles.
- Be a quick and agile learner, with keen business acumen about how various components of the learning experience come together to create impact for our learners.
- Be a trusted advisor to the business and your peers.
- Be proactive, have a “can do” attitude, and work to anticipate solves for issues as they arise.
- Have a global mindset! Utilize best practices and strategies for learning program accessibility, for creating learning materials to support neurodiverse learners, for eliminating integrating personal biases into content, and for decreasing gendered/discriminating language/depiction.
- Having the courage to advocate for keeping the learner at the center of the work.
- Ensure learning content represents diverse communities and promotes inclusivity.
- Be action-oriented and adept at dealing with ambiguity.
- Own the relationship with external partners, vendors, and contracted resources.
Basic Qualifications
- 6+ years of relevant, progressive experience, especially with designing and facilitating training and development programs in an organizational environment.
- Prior experience working designing training and resources for multiple delivery modalities (traditional classroom, online classroom, and self-paced eLearning modules).
- Passion for growing leaders (at all levels) and Squad through a growth mindset.
- Strong presentation skills and the ability to communicate with people of all backgrounds and levels, from Squad to senior leaders.
- Data-driven and strategic, with the ability to align learning and development programs with business objectives
- Strong project management, attention to detail, and professionalism.
- Ability to self-manage, determine timelines and deliverables, multi-task, and identify risks to delivery in the proper avenues.
- Ability to distill complex concepts into manageable learning content to a variety of audiences.
- Ability to take stakeholder, partner, and team feedback with grace, and incorporate it into revisions.
- Prior experience providing functional leadership/guidance or mentoring to others.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Adult Education, Educational Technology, Instructional Design, or a related field preferred.
- Has broad knowledge of instructional technologies and is proficient in the advanced use of e-Learning tools that do not require programming.
- Knowledge of/experience in responsive design for mobile learning.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
- Apply knowledge of multidisciplinary business principles and practices to achieve successful outcomes in cross-functional projects and activities.
- Proficient in Storyline, PowerPoint, or other digital authoring tools.
