The ideal candidate has expertise in adult learning and instructional design, which allows for effective and engaging course creation and when available, partnering with subject-matter experts. Where no subject-matter experts exist, the ideal candidate’s broad experience, curiosity, and learning agility enables them to quickly source and utilize reputable and factual content to create engaging and effective courses.
The ideal candidate has strong planning and project management skills, allowing them to manage multiple priorities and pivot when circumstances change or a new direction is set. Their business acumen enables them to understand critical business needs, analyze issues, and communicate effectively to management. The ideal candidate has a high degree of ownership and thrives in a respectable, diverse, fast-paced environment. They are comfortable with ambiguity and have the ability to demonstrate agility and flexibility.
Experience and Requirements:
· 3+ years of learning design / instructional design experience
· 3+ years designing asynchronous eLearning experiences
- Demonstrated 3+ years’ experience in project managing course development and working on multiple projects at a time
- Firm understanding of and experience creating courses using design principles such as ADDIE, SAM, and Rapid Prototyping
· Firm understanding and experience blueprinting a course (e.g., lesson, topic, terminal objective, enabling objective, Bloom’s Taxonomy)
· Ability to create content that explains concepts in terms a novice and a seasoned real estate professional would understand
- Working understanding of andragogy and adult learning theory, the online and blended modalities, and instructional design
- Firm understanding and experience with the QA (quality assurance) course review process
- Experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams
- Proven ability to build, manage, and improve learning programs and projects via design methodologies
- Ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines, maintain a strong attention to detail, and work independently as well as collaboratively in group settings in a fast-paced department
- Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to self-manage projects
- Can work through ambiguity
- Experience working with an LMS (WordPress/LearnDash, Storyline Articulate, Captivate etc.)
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (including SharePoint)
- Ability and willingness to learn new technology
Key Responsibilities
- Source material from reputable industry sources (e.g., whitepapers, web pages, books, our proprietary videos, etc.) or that are provided by clients and translate it into well-organized, engaging, and easy-to-follow courses
· When applicable, interview subject matter experts (SMEs) from different genres of the real estate industry
- Map, organize, create assessment methods to best support online learning and create courses
- Effectively manage course development to deliver completed course by deadline
- Build, QA, and edit new courses in the learning management system
- Proofread/edit course content as needed
- Additional responsibilities as directed
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Distance Learning, or related field. Master’s Degree preferred.
Experience: 3+ years instructional design (minimum)
