What will you be doing?
WGU Academy’s Product Design team uses a scrum-based, design thinking framework to create accessible, transformative experiences that ready learners for success.
You’ll be part of an agile team that includes a Learning Experience Designer and a Learning Design Writer handling multiple projects simultaneously, each at various stages of development. You will be designing prototypes, collecting feedback, iterating drafts, presenting ideas, attending meetings and sprint ceremonies. There will be opportunities to build out systems and improve processes. You’ll use your expertise to create engaging, user-facing, mobile-first, media-rich content for college and career readiness solutions including: illustrations, interactives, animations, videos, and audio files. Leveraging innovative thinking, creativity, and an entrepreneurial spirit you’ll have the opportunity to create world-class, accessible, learning experiences.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Participates in cross-functional, agile design team to develop transformative learning experiences.

Consults with team/project leads and others to inform and align with desired product goals and outcomes.

Works proficiently with interactive web technologies to blend text, images, sound, and video.

Explains evidence-based for media design decisions.
-
Regularly requests both informal and structured feedback from various sources and adjusts accordingly.

Rapidly produces multiple design concepts for usability testing, AB testing, and stakeholder review.

Assists in designing and creating storyboards and scripts.

Ensures technical feasibility of designs.
-
Produces final media within style guidelines that is accessible and optimized for web and mobile delivery.

Applies and drives best practices in media production, constantly elevating the quality of our product.

Provides instruction, tips, and templates for learning creation and editing techniques.

Develops and maintains a collaborative relationship with key stakeholders.

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities

Expertise in HTML 5, CSS 3, and JS as it applies across different browsers and screen resolutions.
-
Expert in design, layout, and visual communication for various assets that may include (and is not limited to slide decks, templates, infographics, videos, motion graphics, webpages, worksheets).

Experience in multimedia design and production for web development, mobile and/or eLearning, including graphics, animation, audio and video.

Expert-level proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite and digital design tools including video, animation, and audio editing software.
-
Excellent written, oral, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
-
Ability to work collaboratively and creatively in a fast-paced, agile environment.
-
Conceptual knowledge of web/software development.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of similar work experience in media, educational technology, or marketing, or an advanced degree in digital media, adult education, instructional design or similar, without experience
-
Strong multimedia portfolio of original, interactive, digital materials submitted with application, preferably containing animations and samples of interactive learning content
-
Expertise with coding in HTML 5, JS 3, xAPI, and CSS.

2+ years of professional-level design and media production work
-
LMS/UI Design experience
-
Demonstrable experience applying accessibility standards and inclusive content practices
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Experience with OpenEdX or LXP/LRS providers

Familiarity with Articulate 360
-
Experience in multimedia, motion, and graphic design production for eLearning

Familiarity with developing game-based learning experiences
-
Experience with mobile-first design and development strategies
Working Conditions
