    Position Overview:

    The Learning Design Specialist is responsible for designing, developing and implementing enterprise learning solutions for Bechtel’s global organization. They will provide deep experience and expertise in adult learning design to build and maintain effective training, learning solutions and performance support tools for the enterprise. They will work collaboratively with global Talent Management colleagues to evaluate learning requests, manage projects on time and on budget, and develop and implement engaging learning solutions.

    Responsibilities:

    • Designing, developing, and implementing multifaceted learning curriculum and development programs including ILT, VILT, asynchronous web-based training, team building, hands-on activities, and assessments.
    • Supporting Bechtel’s global learning and development initiatives, ensuring portfolio of learning solutions are in alignment with enterprise priorities and requirements, and manage the production and refresh of courses accordingly
    • Collaborating with subject matter experts (SMEs) to understand their training needs, evaluate existing process and training documentation to identify the most suitable content to address learning requests
    • Analyzing and designing learning solutions that are engaging, informative, high quality and delivered according to Corporate Learning & Developments standards and guidelines
    • Support course pre-production and copy-editing tasks, including review of course materials for completeness, spelling and grammatical errors, etc.
    • Support course production processes to maintain production timelines.
    • Managing content source files in shared libraries and working with colleagues to upload content into learning management system for access by training audience
    • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices within the Bechtel Talent Management team to ensure we are building high-quality, scalable programs for our audience to include creating and updating internal processes and templates to minimize future content development time
    • Provide input to the technology support team to further the development of strategies relating to eLearning, mobile learning and directs the prioritization of activities
    • Perform technical troubleshooting during and after the production process
    • Conduct quality assurance testing on all training materials created, including loading, testing, and evaluating programs in the Learning Management System (SuccessFactors)
    • Conducting research to ensure utilization of industry best practice and to provide innovative solutions
    • Working with Talent Management colleagues, identifying content to be translated to Spanish (or other languages as needed) and overseeing the conversion and completion

    Qualifications and Skills:

    Basic Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Technologies, Instructional Design, or related discipline or at least 7 years’ experience in adult learning design and development, with at least 4 years’ experience in building corporate learning solutions
    • Experience with deploying products in a Learning Management System (such as SuccessFactors)

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Strong time management and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities
    • A strong knowledge of instructional design methodologies and tools including design documents, scripts/storyboards, screen captures, and audio scripts
    • Proficiency with a variety of web-development/e-learning authoring tools (HTML5, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, ActionScript, Articulate Storyline, Captivate) to support cross-platform deployment
    • Graphic design skills and a demonstrated ability to develop innovative, creative, and highly interactive solutions in e-learning environments
    • Ability to work independently and function as an effective team player across multiple organizations
    • Flexibility in working hours to accommodate global time zones, as needed
    • Bilingual (Spanish and English) with experience translating English content into Spanish
