The Learning Manager, Instructional Design is an integral part of Healthier Generation’s Marketing team, working collaboratively towards the organization’s goal of addressing racially and socioeconomically based health inequities. The mission of this role is to help Healthier Generation and the Marketing team to optimize best in class virtual and asynchronous learning strategies that equip health champions with the tools and resources needed to equitably transform environments surrounding young people and their families.
The Learning Manager supports key aspects of Healthier Generation’s virtual learning strategy, with a particular focus on the design, development, and evaluation of on-demand e-learning products. This position will work closely with subject matter experts across the organization to identify Healthier Generation audience e-learning needs and meet those needs with high-quality e-learning products reflective of the organization’s philanthropic brand. The Learning Manager will be responsible for the planning, creation, promotion, delivery, and evaluation process for on-demand learning opportunities that facilitate Healthier Generation learners in acquiring knowledge, skills, and competencies in an effective and appealing manner.
The Learning Manager, Instructional Design also contributes to Healthier Generation’s broader learning strategy by contributing design and adult-learning expertise to help inform best-in-class training approaches. They will work with internal and external stakeholders to analyze training needs, train staff on learning design and delivery best practices, develop and implement quality assurance processes, define measures of success, and coordinate the collection and review of learning datasets that inform strategies. The Learning Manager will also assist with day-to-day implementation and administrative functions of the overall virtual learning portfolio.
Core Responsibilities
- Project and process management for e-learnings
- Collaborate with members of the Content team to develop and maintain a process for e-learning development
- Serve as project manager for all e-learning-related projects, and manage all internal e-learning requests
- Create and manage project documentation including design templates, standards, style guides, technical specifications, and storyboards.
- Assist with management of the day-to-day operations of all distance learning events offered through Virtual Learning Team, including but not limited to; live virtual trainings, on-demand trainings, webinars, tutorials and online courses offered through the learning management system.
- Design and develop e-learnings
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and gather target audience input to identify organizational training needs for the design and delivery of high-quality e-learnings, curricula, and learning aids.
- Plan, implement and manage instructional design and quality product design review and assurance, ensuring instruction design reflects an understanding of the diversity of learners and groups of learners, and using a portfolio of delivery platforms to encourage active participation and learner engagement.
- Write learning objectives to describe desired outcomes and ensure learning materials support those objectives. Work directly with subject matter experts to research content information and capture course-specific knowledge.
- Work within Healthier Generation’s style guidelines to produce high-quality training products that can be delivered across multiple mediums and reflective of the Healthier Generation brand.
- Redesign live/in-person course content for online presentation that is conducive to online learning programs, adult learning principles, and JEDI best practices.
- Analyze existing courses to ensure they meet best practices in virtual design and delivery; recommend changes to existing courses, including technology or instructional methods, to adapt to the changing landscape of adult learning and accessibility standards.
- Implement instructional strategies to ensure Healthier Generation remains competitive in the delivery of virtual training; work with the Technology Team to research and recommend emerging technologies and their application to teaching and learning.
- Adapt coursework to assist learners with disabilities or specific needs so that they are able to experience the same learning opportunities as others.
- Leverage expertise towards Healthier Generation’s live professional development delivery and work across teams to guide training best practices.
- Manages and maintains the Training Catalog
- Upload and organize content into Healthier Generation’s learning management system
- Manage content within the Training Center to ensure the Training Catalog is up to date
- Provide technical support and guidance for the Training Center
- Gather, track, analyze e-learning data
- Identify appropriate metrics to evaluate effectiveness of learning activities.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop, execute and maintain a system of measurement and evaluation of usage, efficacy, and impact of online learning opportunities.
- Assist with the development of surveys to be utilized with live events, virtual instructor-led trainings, and e-learnings
- Assist with on-demand data entry for all e-learnings
- Virtual training and live event production
- Provide technical assistance and production support for select virtual instructor-led trainings including pre- and post-production of live events, on-demand trainings, and webinars hosted by Healthier Generation
- Develop and deliver training programs utilizing skills in instructional design, program design and development, adult learning best practices and training technologies

Education and experience requirements for this role:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- At least five years of experience in learning and development required, including virtual platform training and e-learning best practices and principles; certification in adult learning or instructional design preferred
- Proven working experience in instructional design and with instructional technology
- Experience applying design best practices and principles; excellent knowledge of and successful application of adult learning theories, equitable and inclusive design, instructional design models, and emerging trends in the industry
- Experience with audio editing software such as Audacity with demonstrated success recording, editing and importing audio for eLearning modules.
- Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio/video scripts.
- Prior experience with Articulate Storyline 2 or similar e-learning authoring tool required; experience with Adobe CS preferred
- Experience with online delivery of content that engages learners, meets learning objectives, and embraces teachable moments
- Experience gathering, tracking, and analyzing data sets for strategic planning purposes
- Experience providing online instruction and technical assistance via web-based meeting and conferencing platforms such as WebEx or Zoom required
- Project management experience required

Each job at Healthier Generation is assigned to a salary grade built on market data. For an individual coming into Healthier Generation, we set pay generally between the minimum and the midpoint of the salary grade and based on qualifications. For this position, the minimum is $68,642 and the midpoint is $82,370.
