Position Summary
As the Manager, Learning Experience you will lead a team that operates on the understanding that learning happens in a variety of environments – both structured and unstructured. Our approach to learning goes beyond traditional instructional design and classroom-based training, emphasizing thoughtful construction by experts who embrace agile project management methodologies.
Experience is a fundamental aspect of adult education, and as such, you will spearhead initiatives to elevate the importance of experiential learning within our organization. By emphasizing experience, we shift the focus from viewing learning as a static product to understanding it as a dynamic program that spans multiple sessions and modalities.
In addition to championing contemporary learning methodologies and technologies, you will be responsible for overseeing the provision of additional expertise as need for Maximus Canada. Serving as the primary liaison between internal and external stakeholders, you will work collaboratively to gather requirements, develop comprehensive plans (including training plans defined by the client), and design and implement learning experiences. Your role will involve organizing and coordinating multiple concurrent learning experiences throughout the year, ensuring that our workforce remains equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles.
Furthermore, you will proactively develop and maintain strong working relationships and communication links with other departments and project teams across the organization. This collaborative approach will enable you to identify and address learning needs effectively, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. As Training Lead for most client projects, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful implementation of learning initiatives, both short and long term.
Our learning approach emphasizes blended programs with a focus on eLearning . As the manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operation of the Learning Experience (LX) team, ensuring that all activities are performed accurately, timely, and cost-effectively. Your project management skills will be essential for managing complex projects, ensuring that LX meets its obligations across multiple initiatives.
Additionally, you will be responsible for overseeing and evaluating the work of the Learning Experience team. This includes the development of performance goals and plans, performance management, position-based skills development, team building, and succession planning. If required, you will also procure the services of vendors to develop or deliver learning content and/or experiences, such as to support our Leadership Program.
In summary, as the Learning Experience Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving the learning experience agenda within Maximus Canada, ensuring that our workforce remains equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in a dynamic and evolving environment.
Your typical week at Maximus
- Organize, assign, and schedule curriculum design tasks for the division, ensuring effective communication with the Director and division regarding priorities, obligations, deadlines, and any barriers to operational success.
- Conduct comprehensive needs analysis, identifying and documenting core learning needs and priorities for corporate projects, and assist with project estimates using instructional design models.
- Coordinate learning experience services for operational units to ensure employees and our clients receive just-in-time learning that will enable optimal performance.
- Collaborate with other departments, stakeholders, and clients to identify learning and performance support requirements, and identify learning resources that will enhance the delivery of existing programs and services within the organization. Ensure employees are trained in all aspects of Maximus operations and systems.

1. Provide learning services

- Oversees the processes for documenting certification of staff for compliance and audit purposes.
- Administers contractual obligations and performance for consultants hired to deliver learning experiences and/or learning content.
- Manages the maintenance of our Learning Management System (LMS) and eLearning development software.
- Conducts continuous evaluation, assessment and revision of learning practices for various programs.
- Provides accurate estimates for learning initiatives. Tracks budget to ensure we meet resourcing allocations as per the project plan.

2. Lead the LX Team
- Leads by example, promoting a challenging work environment that encourages our diverse workforce to develop and fully utilize their skills.
- Works with the LX team and operations managers to analyze root causes of performance inhibitors within the team, and identify and resolve capability/capacity gaps.
- Recruits, orients and retains high performing direct reports with support of the Director.
- Conducts direct reports’ performance reviews and develops appropriate Employee Development Plans. Recognizes and rewards accomplishments.
- Makes timely, informed decisions regarding employees’ continued employment.
Education and Experience
- Post-secondary degree in Education, Adult Learning, or equivalent years of experience
- 5-10 years progressive experience in facilitation, curriculum development, instructional design, and learning management, in a corporate setting
- Basic knowledge of course development software and Learning Management Systems
- Basic knowledge of the principles project management
- Basic knowledge of the principles of contract administration preferred

Salary Range – $91,166.00 – $110,000.00 CDN
