Reporting to the Associate Director of Faculty Professional Development, the Learning Experience Designer applies pedagogical & instructional design knowledge in order to design and develop learning experiences for credit & non-credit courses & programs . This position partners closely with faculty and works as a critical team member, aligned to a cohesive vision for flexible, creative and high-quality learning experiences. The Learning Experience Designer fuses instructional design skills with course building and basic user interface skill sets to create a user-friendly, contemporary, and engaging online learning experience.
Job Responsibilities:
Act as a single point of contact and consult with faculty to design and develop objective-aligned and engaging learning experiences and authentic assessments that encourage critical thinking skills and community among students and between students and faculty. Ensures design and content development are completed on time and meets standards of quality and best-practices in learning experience design. 40%
Facilitates LMS and related educational technology workshops and hands-on training to faculty. Utilizes tools for course design and development and adheres to style guides and quality standards for learning experiences. Complete instructional design documentation to ensure quality and consistency. 20%
Utilizes a unified look and feel across eLearning environments. Develops and maintains learning objects in elearning environments. Builds accessibility into online learning experiences, leveraging WCAG 2.0 AA standards, and applying Universal Design for Learning wherever possible. 20%
Coordinate with E-Learning Authors to assign build of assets, and Senior Learning Experience Designers on program revisions, as needed. Partner with faculty during beta delivery to implement necessary updates. Other duties as assigned. 20%
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree with 3 years of experience.
Degree Substitute: Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience in instructional design, instructional technology, or a similar role within an education setting will substitute for the Master’s degree.
Specific Experience – Instructional design, instructional technology, or a similar role within an education setting. Experience with Camtasia, Kaltura, Piktochart. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point. Experience with learning management system.
Preferred Qualifications:
Understanding of video technology and basic editing. Experience in Adobe Creative Suite similar tools (a plus).
