The Learning & Development Specialist is responsible for supporting the development of GECU’s team members by designing and delivering a comprehensive catalog of engaging and effective in-person, virtual, and eLearning sessions for participants at all levels. This multifunctional utility team player will demonstrate passion, energy, and genuine enthusiasm for developing people and contributing to their career success as they progress, transition, and advance at the Credit Union. They must be a solutions-focused and innovative team member who can quickly adapt in response to evolving training needs, organizational changes, and constructive feedback. They understand that they are a critical player in driving long-term team member success.
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities
- Designs, develops, and implements engaging and effective training programs and resources that embody organizational-wide values to support team members at all levels. Understands the value and application for the different modalities for delivering training; considers and recommends the best option whether in-person, virtual, or eLearning.
- Prepares for an effective training environment and develops materials, videos, and activities such as course content, job aids, and Knowledge Base Articles to support just-in-time learning for team members. Promotes application of skills and behaviors to drive our team members’ proficiency in their role responsibilities.
- Understands and communicates the value of relationship building and the vital role consultative conversations plays in allowing us to best meet the diverse needs of our membership. Collaborates with internal partners to create learning journeys to meet the strategic needs of the business.
- Collaborates across functions within the organization to stay up to date on current projects and ensure accuracy in learning programs and materials, while creating and updating existing content as needed. This includes adapting content to the changing nature of our GECU products, services, and programs to ensure all team members can have meaningful discussions about them.
- Develop and conduct surveys and knowledge checks to ensure transition of knowledge; gather feedback and make adjustments to the learning experience as needed.
- Seeks input from managers and stakeholders to ensure alignment of course material to organizational needs while efficiently and effectively promoting the transfer of knowledge.
- Stay abreast of best practices of the financial services industry and learning industry. Identify and drive efficiency in the training process by developing best practices and process improvements on an ongoing basis.
- Models the GECU “HATS” core values (Honesty, Accountability, Teamwork, Solutions-Focused). Communicates and instills our mission, vision, common purpose, and goals through all efforts.
- Supports additional learning and instructional design projects, as needed, to support team member development and organizational goals.
- Must maintain proficiency in GECU’s core systems and applicable programs to deliver training regarding their use.
- Must understand and comply with all required federal and state regulations associated with this position.
- Must be able to speak and understand fluent English.
Requirements: BA/BS in training, development, or related field; 3+ years of instructional design experience and teaching adult learners using varied instructional modalities (in-person, virtual, eLearning); 2+ years of financial services and professional development training experience preferred. Excellent written communication and interpersonal communication skills are vital. Must have established organizational skills, keen attention to detail, consumer first mentality, ability to think both creatively and strategically, and be adaptable and fluent through change in fast-paced, growing organization.
