    Job Summary

    The Learning Design Specialist’s role focuses on delivering creative blended learning and digital solutions to a variety of learners, including corporate professionals, retail managers, and front-line retail, food production and warehouse associates. These solutions will be designed using adult learning principles, instructional design methodology and technology optimization to enhance the learner’s experience. Additionally, this individual will utilize content management best practices to manage all learning content in the company learning management system (LMS).

    Responsibilities

    Learning Design & Development:

    • Designs and develops creative and innovative learning content, with a particular focus on e-learning material.
    • Continuously explores new course design strategies and contemporary learning models.
    • Creates appealing graphics and videos to utilize within digital learning experiences.
    • Partners with business subject matter experts (SME’s) across all company locations, including corporate, retail, food production, and warehousing, to assess e-learning needs. Develops content strategy to meet those needs, and ensures timely design, development, and delivery of relevant learning material.
    • Partners with the Learning and Development Manager to establish Learning and Development goals and priorities, particularly as they relate to e-learning.
    • Conducts needs assessment and usability analyses; develops metrics to evaluate design impact and success.
    • Supports other learning and development projects and performs other duties, as assigned.
    • Supports facilitators in the preparation and delivery of digital learning experiences.

    Content Management:

    • Supports all Company e-learning content in the company learning management system (LMS). Deploys content management techniques to ensure proper maintenance of content and learning assets, including version control, for both internally produced and externally procured learning material.
    • Secures external vendor-created learning content, as relevant. Reviews, edits as appropriate, and coordinates delivery to end users.
    • Manages external vendor relationships and contracts.

    Learning Management System (LMS):

    • Monitors and implements best practices to ensure associate engagement with company LMS. Communicates engagement and usage metrics to managers and deploys strategies for improvement.
    • Develops relationship with LMS technology support person(s) to ensure all modules are viewed and tracked properly; features are optimized, and issues are resolved in a timely manner.
    • Supports hierarchy maintenance, end user’s password resets and reporting access for leadership.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Learning and Development, Organizational Development, Instructional Design, Adult Learning, or related field.
    • 3-5 years of learning and development experience, ideally in a multi-unit retail environment.
    • 3-5 years of instructional design and development experience in a variety of modalities: instructor led traditional and digital based classroom environments, eLearning authoring in both desktop and mobile responsive environments.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of and strong expertise in instructional design principles required, including the creation of content plans, storyboarding, and assessment design.
    • Demonstrated experience with oversight and management of learning content in a Company-wide learning management system required; direct experience with Axonify (LMS) preferred.
    • Strong, working knowledge of industry-standard instructional design tools, including Vyond, Captivate, the Articulate Suite (Storyline, Rise, 360), and Adobe Premier Pro preferred.
    • Adept at building strong working relationships and working in a collaborative manner across all levels of a Company.
    • Able to lead, problem solve, and think critically.
    • Able to meet deadlines and maintain a high level of accuracy in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
    • Able to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands and opportunities; able to manage multiple and competing priorities concurrently.
    • Works accurately with great attention to detail.
    • Able to adjust the work schedule to business needs, including working late and/or weekends.
