POSITION SUMMARY:

The Bass Pro Shops Learning & Development team focuses on developing team members (Outfitters) and front-line leaders to provide an environment of learning, growth, and opportunity needed for future success. This particular role will focus on the development of safety-related training programs throughout the organization. This Specialist will work closely with our Chief Security Officer and team as well as various other legal and compliance leaders.

Learning & Development Specialists perform a variety of tasks and rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Responsible for defining learning objectives, designing and developing training materials, curriculum, and resources, performing needs assessments, and analyzing training effectiveness. Develops the final delivery format of the curriculum; instructor-led, eLearning, event-based modules, and blended models. May be called on to facilitate. May be involved in initial plan design and existing plan enhancements. Performs intermediate project management tasks. Creativity, initiation, and working autonomously required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Collaborates with creative and expert resources and guides SME’s in order to design and develop world-class training materials, curriculum, and resources.
  • Utilizes project management tasks in order to effectively organize the development and design of training programs, curriculum, and communication.
  • Understands the important of aesthetics, adult learning styles, and marketing techniques when designing curriculum, learning tools, program materials, and communication for courses.
  • Works with the LDM and other Human Resources leadership to ensure training goals, company priorities, and employee time commitments are aligned.
  • Selects and executes the delivery format of the curriculum (instructor-led, eLearning, event-based modules, and blended models). Works with external and other internal curriculum developers when necessary to create a high-quality learning product.
  • Innovate to find operational efficiencies and recommend improvements to existing business process.
  • Frequently communicates the progress of projects, processes, and tools with LDM, learning/training team, and stakeholders.
  • Assists in evaluating effectiveness of existing training materials, programs, external training vendors, and “off the shelf” products. Continually develops and refines instructional design processes, tools and templates.
  • May be called on to facilitate training and occasionally mentor, lead, and direct the work of others.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Training/Learning & Development , Human Resources or a related field

Experience: 3+ Yrs experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:

  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in learning and development.
  • Have strong attention to detail, a self-starter with the ability to learn quickly.
  • Strong eye for visual and professional appeal, imparts creativity to build engaging courseware.
  • Able to manage projects, create effective plans and execute.
  • Strong learning strategy development, curriculum and instructional design (instructor-led and online), and facilitation skills.
  • Demonstrated success presenting and communicating ideas to selected stakeholders and project management.
  • Able to work with others, collaborate effectively, and build relationships.
  • Strong interpersonal skills: listening and communication.
  • Strong verbal and written communication.
  • Navigates ambiguity and changing priorities successfully.
  • Strong Microsoft Office proficiency, experience in Articulate 360, Adobe products, and Workday preferred.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: <5%, Minimal travel required for special projects, mainly local/regional in and around Springfield, MO.
