We’re looking for an amazing Specialist, Fleet Learning & Development to fill this role. You’ll be responsible for supporting our Holland America Line (HAL) and Seabourn (SBN) brands. This role will play a pivotal role in fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development within our organization.
The Specialist is responsible for supporting the Fleet L&D initiatives and implementations, including new learning programs, to ensure objectives are met and initiatives successfully implemented. This role must engage and partner with all shipboard Learning & Development Managers (LDMs) for all L&D initiatives, track the required regular reporting and use metrics to support continuous improvement opportunities.

Responsibilities
- Partner with shipboard and shoreside partners to conduct needs assessments to identify effective learning solutions and best L&D practices.
- Identify and implement consistent L&D operational best practices across brands
- Advise shipboard LDMs on related matters and maintain ongoing consistent, clear, and relevant communication across varied channels
- Develop learning program documentation, shipboard SOPs and practices and find ways to standardize when possible across the group without impacting quality of individual brands
- Build and maintain professional relations with operational department representatives to encourage collaborative partnerships and promptly respond to requests with accuracy and a courteous demeanor
- Oversee the onboarding of newly recruited LDMs through effective training plans creation and execution; monitors performance of all LDMs in partnership with onboard HR Managers and shoreside Sr. Manager
- Develop LDMs to conduct effective onboard needs assessments
- Partner with the Sr. Manager to support the ongoing professional development of the onboard L&D team though meaningful learning and growth opportunities
- Analyze the work environment/conditions to ensure inclusiveness and equity, and avoid unintended impact or barriers to full engagement
- Collaborate with Leadership to develop and maintain L&D Dashboard
- Establish metrics and evaluation methods to assess the impact and effectiveness of training programs
- Track and analyze shipboard L&D Manager reports, provide feedback to formulate improvements, escalate issues as appropriate
- Use metrics and data to identify areas of opportunity
- Research and network internally and externally to keep up-to-date with the L&D trends and technologies to bring forward new ideas and development opportunities for the team and the overall function of L&D
- Provide recommendations for continuous improvement of learning content and program effectiveness, based on feedback from shipboard L&D Managers and other relevant stakeholders.
- Partner with the shoreside L&D team on content creation to support development needs identified
- Conduct Train the Trainer sessions with LDMs and HR Managers for new and updated content
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Learning & Development, Adult Education or equivalent experience
- At least five (5) years’ experience in Learning & Development capacity
- Hospitality industry experience considered an asset
- Cruise industry experience considered an asset
- Proven experience in instructional design, adult learning principles, and training facilitation
- Flexible to changing priorities and willingness to support global 24/7 operation
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and PowerPoint)
- Familiarity with various learning methodologies, eLearning authoring tools, and multimedia production
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
- High level of attention to detail and overseeing timely and high-quality work under pressure
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal in English
- Proficient in using learning management systems and other related software
- Autonomous, resourceful, collaborative, and adaptive
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess training needs and measure training effectiveness
- Strong understanding of the foundation of business partnership and ability to effectively work with and collaborate across all levels of the organization and across various cultures.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-based, collaborative environment
- Ability to collaborate with and manage teams indirectly
This is hybrid position and can be based either in Seattle, WA or Miami, FL

- Base Hourly Range: $55,100.00 to $74,400.00. The range is applicable for the labor market where the role is intended to be hired. Final base salary is directly related to each candidates’ qualifications and experience uniquely.
