    Position Summary:

    The primary function of the Learning and Development Specialist will be to consult, assess, design, implement, evaluate and maintain innovative learning initiatives. These initiatives include but are not limited to eLearning micromodules, alternative, virtual, instructor-led, on-the-job training solutions and other cutting-edge solutions to enhance the organization’s skills and capabilities.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Partners with other Onboarding and Development Specialists, HRBPs and Onboarding Specialist and the business to assess performance gaps and recommend and implement appropriate solutions, which may be outside of learning & development.
    • Knows, identifies and applies appropriate, generally accepted adult learning principles.
    • Utilizes a data-driven performance consulting approach for needs assessment to recommend the appropriate solution(s) to address the identified learning need, which may include classroom, virtual, print, eLearning micromodules, web (interactive, games, assessments, simulations, etc.), audio, video, or other learning formats. This also includes developing curriculum and learning plans.
    • Actively engages in the curation of externally-built and internally-built content in partnership with other Onboarding Learning and Development Specialists.
    • Actively manages subject matter expert relationships to gather input needed to create learner-centric, audience-appropriate media and collaborates with appropriate teams to identify tools, areas for improvement and align training with strategic objectives that adheres to communication, brand, cultural and product guidelines as appropriate.
    • Develops learning solutions and effective measurement methodologies. Makes recommendations on how to leverage informal learning channels such as learning communities to enhance learning.
    • Delivers innovative learning and implements processes, methods and techniques to enhance the learning experience.
    • Proactively identifies opportunities to increase effectiveness of training.
    • Performs work in accordance with the Swagelok training management model and makes suggestions for improvements.
    • Participates in Onboarding and cadenced training process.
    • Maintains and updates content in the LMS and archives; performs general trouble-shooting in the LMS.
    • Identifies and applies appropriate project management methodologies for development of learning solutions. Performs cost-benefit analysis of solutions and can clearly articulate business case for alternative solutions and share with the business (build / buy).
    • Finds vendors, partner with vendors to determine right solutions, and manages vendor relationships.

    Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

    Required:

    • Bachelor’s degree required in education, organizational development, training and development or related field or equivalent work experience.
    • Minimum of 3 years direct experience of training, learning consulting or organizational development or other relevant field.
    • Experience consulting and partnering with leadership and functional areas to meet their learning and development needs.
    • Knowledge and experience applying proven instruction design methodologies (e.g. ADDIE, SAM, etc.) to create learning solutions.
    • Minimum of 1 year direct experience creating eLearning micromodules through authoring software and utilizing a Learning Management System or complementary program.

    Preferred:

    • Master’s degree preferred.
    • Authoring software experience preferred.
    • SuccessFactors learning management system experience preferred.

    • Communication: Strong communication skills to be able to create clear, concise materials and partner with the various levels in the business.
    • Results Focused: Takes data driven approach to learning and development by demonstrating the value of a learning solution to the business.
    • Enables Change: self-starter who takes lead on new thinking in the industry and brings those improvements to Swagelok.

    Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:

    • Office and Shop environment.
    • Ability to stand for 4-8 hours to deliver instructor led training if needed.
