The Training Specialist, Learning and Development, is responsible for working collaboratively with, and assisting, the Manager of Learning and Development in the creation of various learning programs and training experiences to support the development of the RTD workforce and help meet the agency’s strategic plan. Applies knowledge of adult learning theories to design, develop and deliver high-impact training opportunities across all functions and levels of the organization, including in-person classroom training, online learning, webinars, job aids, and course materials.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

ESSENTIAL:

  • Develops learning solutions in multiple formats, including e-learning, interactive classroom-based instruction, job aids, pre- and post-assessments, and other performance support tools.
  • Facilitates instructor-led and virtual training on various topics (including but not limited to, soft skills, business skills, manager/supervisor development, business processes, department specific training, etc.) with a solid understanding and application of adult learning principles.
  • Coordinates and facilitates Leadership Academy programing and training for emerging RTD leaders.
  • Facilitates train-the-trainer sessions to support implementation of departmental training programs, to support consistent standards of training throughout the agency.
  • Works with Manager, Development and Training to customize employee training plans based on need, role, and/or professional improvement plans.
  • Supports Manager, Development and Training with ENO Max programming and Denver host week.

OTHER:

  • Serves as a liaison and advisor to departments regarding training needs.
  • Documents processes, procedures, and best practices.
  • Supports onboarding training as needed.
  • Assists with execution of special projects.
  • Travel as required (approximately 3-5%).
  • Additional job-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Learning and Development, or other related field.
  • Master’s degree in Instructional Design or related field preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5-7 years’ experience in designing, developing, and implementing training in traditional, online, and hybrid environments for a large organization.

PROFICIENCIES:

  • Proficient in using Learning Management Systems (LMS); knowledge of Workday Learning LMS a plus.
  • Proficient knowledge of Instructional Design concepts, solutions, and methodologies.
  • Proficient knowledge of Articulate 360, Canva, and other web-based design tools.
  • Proficient knowledge of the ADDIE model and Kirkpatrick’s Model of Evaluation.
  • Proficient in facilitating in-person and online training.
  • Proficient in creating eLearning modules.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

SKILLS:

  • Strong facilitation, training, and presentation skills in a business environment.
  • Ability to identify learning objectives, assess learners, and differentiate instruction.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills with ability to engage in active listening.
  • Advanced knowledge of training diverse groups at various skill levels.
  • Ability to work well with staff at all levels from individual contributor to the CEO
  • Ability to incorporate a variety of training techniques to a broad audience of learners.
  • Ability to manage time and workload effectively which includes planning, organizing, and prioritizing with attention to details.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Ability to use sound judgment.
