Function/Duties of Position:
- Designs and delivers learning solutions and training that support employee development in identified areas.
- Develops annual and long-term learning and development strategies as needed that will sustain improved skills and behavioral changes.
- Creates all materials, such as handouts, needed to support learning outcomes, and links trainings to other Learning and Development, CWE, OHSU programs and LinkedIn Learning offerings.
- Assists with planning, design distribution of course materials.
- Schedule, advertise, and administer clinical education courses.
- Applies adult learning principles when designing and conducting training.
- Regularly reviews and updates current Clinical Education curriculum and training materials as appropriate, and ensures all content reinforces OHSU’s commitment to being an anti-racist organization that values diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
- Instructs classes, including Basic Life Saving (BLS), in formal instructor-led training sessions (virtual and face to face), adapting facilitation style, content, and medium to be responsive to learner needs, supportive of intended outcomes, and aligned with OHSU values and culture.
- Identifies other learning solutions and training initiatives (eLearning, leadership development, etc.) at OHSU that align with Clinical Education employee development strategy and reaches out to associated stakeholders to build and support learning networks within the OHSU community.
- Develops and maintains professional working relationships with all levels of the organization.
- Seeks out and partners with others at OHSU to identify and capitalize on existing and potential synergies related to Clinical Education initiatives.
- Listens actively for mutual understanding, suggests solutions, and solves problems in a way that enhances effectiveness, increases customer satisfaction, and supports learning
- Coordinate student onboarding in alignment with clinical assignment including ensuring student compliance with OHA and OHSU policies and standards; coordinating with non-OHSU programs and OHSU clinical sites for student placement; overseeing annual student placement survey and data tracking.
- Performs program management tasks related to Clinical Education courses and programs including, but not limited to, coordination of other facilitators, course enrollment management using an online class registration management system, communication and promotion of trainings, facility management, and course logistics, among others.
- Reviews existing procedures/processes to ensure licensure alignment, and recommends improvements.
- Develops and maintains standard work processes for process improvement.
- Performs needs assessments as appropriate to determine learning needs and builds innovative curriculum that meets identified gaps.
- Develops, administers, and reviews course and program evaluations that measure learner reactions to and satisfaction with learning and makes adjustments accordingly.
- Develops assessment instruments that measure increases in learner’s skills, knowledge, or attitude, as well as use of skills, knowledge, or attitude in the everyday environment after participating in training and/or learning solution.
- Evaluates participation across organizational and demographic groups and adapts offerings to increase participation across target audiences.
- Uses the results of evaluations and assessments to continually improve training and learning solutions. Seeks and incorporates feedback from diverse stakeholder groups to improve offerings and outcomes.
- Tracks and compiles quantitative and qualitative program data for leadership development annual reports.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, organizational development, behavioral sciences or related field; OR
- 4 years of additional experience demonstrating the skill set needed to be successful in this role by showing experience utilizing adult learning principles to create effective teaching and learning programs, creating and delivering learning content, managing programs related to learning and development will substitute for the degree requirement.
- 3 or more years of experience in training and development and/or organizational development.
- 1-year experience facilitating and managing leadership development programs.
- Demonstrated project management experience and experience working with multiple stakeholder groups.
- Demonstrated experience applying adult learning principles.
- Experience integrating and reinforcing principles and behaviors of equity, inclusion, diversity, and belonging into training.
- Experience independently conducting needs assessment, defining training content, selecting optimal presentation media and delivery methods, creating courses and curriculum, delivering training, and assessing course effectiveness.
- Demonstrated skill in program development/management.
- Excellent presentation/facilitation/training skills.
- Effective ability to communicate about challenging, sensitive, and/or emotional situations in group and individual settings with empathy and cultural awareness.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects on an ongoing basis with excellent attention to detail. Ability to plan, organize, and monitor work to meet performance objectives.
- Demonstrated knowledge of up-to-date theory and best practices regarding leadership development and adult learning theory.
- Experience creating safe learning spaces that encourages learners to take risks, ask questions, challenge their thinking and behavior, and engage in healthy conflict around ideas.
- Demonstrated excellence in skills of influencing, partnering and relationship building a must. High emotional intelligence and able to remain calm during change and ambiguity.
- Demonstrated ability to establish trust and rapport with all levels of leadership within organization.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively collect, analyze and use data for continual improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated while still working effectively as part of a collaborative team
- Commitment to gaining and applying knowledge of the unique cultures, challenges, needs, and strengths of historically underrepresented groups.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s in Education, Organizational Development, behavioral sciences or related field.
- BLS certification or instructor certification, or agreement to obtain certification within one month of hire.
- 5 or more years of experience in training and development and/or organizational development.
- 3 years of experience facilitating and managing leadership development programs
- Experience working in healthcare and/or academic environment.
- Experience with e-Learning design and development.
- Experience in website maintenance (e.g., Drupal).
- Demonstrated skill using database and project management software including Excel, Smartsheet, or similar
- Experience with curriculum design and delivery in the area of Clinical Education.
- Ability to generate desire, engagement, and participation in learning offerings.
