    This role will be responsible for strategically assessing enterprise-wide professional development needs and will design/develop, deliver, and manages competency-based learning solutions to advance Leadership DNA skills and capabilities. The L&D Instructional Designer will partner closely with key business partners to translate business intent into engaging innovative learning solutions. S/he will work closely to develop videos, e-Learning courses, structure simulations, create digital games, web sites, learning communities and much more.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Establish and maintain relationships with business partners and stakeholders
    • Partner with clients and/or internal partner teams/peers to understand business needs and business outcomes
    • Conduct needs assessment by reviewing data, performing user research, and identifying how learning fits in the business strategy
    • Assess when to gather more data and when to move forward to action (judgement and decision-making)
    • Creativity and innovation to experiment with new approaches, processes, and disrupt the status quo
    • Communicate and influence stakeholders (e.g., peers, SMEs, business partners) on project design, status, and seeking buy-in
    • Put the customer first to ensure that the learner is at the center of every design
    • Create holistic learning experience recommendation and curricula/design documents
    • Develop on-brand learning content using various modalities, authoring tools, and standard templates & best practices to include but not limited to eLearning, instructor led training, performance tools and resources, assessments, simulations, and other
    • Create behaviorally based assessments and evaluation methods
    • Train up stakeholders (i.e., facilitators, business SMEs) to deliver or curate the learning experience
    • Evaluate learning experiences and present recommendations for updates to manager and/or team
    • Manage scope, schedule, and resources for project work with minimal direct supervision to successfully meet deadlines
    • Experience with project management and managing multiple, simultaneous tasks
    • Maintain curation cycles for learning updates and sunsetting content
    • Recommend, and document project instructional standards and strategies, learner engagement strategies, and evaluation plan
    • Exceptional professional communication and technical writing skills
    • Basic video and audio editing skills are a plus
    • Ability to learn and master new software applications quickly and thoroughly
    • Knowledge of instructional systems design methodology, rapid design/development methodologies, adult learning theory, research methodology, and assessment tools
    • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Publisher)
    • Knowledge of learning development applications i.e., Storyline, Captivate, Camtasia, Creative Cloud, HTML, Bootstrap, Grovo, etc.
    • Ability to break down complex, technical processes into simple, logical steps

    Required Qualifications:

    • 1+ years of experience in creating instructional materials for an adult audience within a large corporate environment (or related experience)
    • 1+ years of experience in implementing successful learning solutions
    • Expert knowledge of LMS deployment options such as competencies, curriculum, and certifications
    • Knowledge of web technologies (web 2.0, Flash, HTML, Dreamweaver, Bootstrap, etc.) and instructional authoring tools such as Articulate, Captivate, Grovo etc.
    • Knowledge of multi-media production; audio/video
    • Proficient in MS Office and Adobe Suite products, including authoring tools for development of web-based training
    • Demonstrated ability to display expertise in one of the following areas: Web-based training, Instructor-Led Training, Virtual Instructor-Led Training, Social Networking, or Information networks (on the job)
    • Proven ability in identifying user needs, analyze and logically organize complex technical information, and transform complex bodies of information into professionally designed, engaging and effective programs
    • Demonstrated proficiency in utilizing instructional system design methodologies and adult learning theories
    • Demonstrated ability to develop detailed storyboards and scripts, and building online courseware (eLearning)
    • Proven ability to work with Subject Matter Experts and virtual teams to design learning solutions in multiple mediums, including eLearning

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Human Resources, Instructional Design, Organizational Development, Adult Learning, Graphic Design or related field
    • Proven ability to adapt to changing priorities and organize and manage time effectively while managing multiple projects concurrently
    • Demonstrated excellent communication, writing, grammar, editing, and proofreading skills
    • Proven excellent detail-orientation and organizational skills
    • Provide outstanding customer services to internal and external clients
    • Consulting skills-negotiates, listens, influences through involvement
    • Experience working independently and creating a team atmosphere on projects with stakeholders
    • Demonstrated problem solving and creativity
    • Proven ability to lead and coordinate production team efforts
    • Demonstrated ability to develop innovative approaches to complex design problems

    California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New York City, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New York City, or Washington residents is $67,800 to $133,100. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
